According to a report by World Economic Forum(WEF), while artificial intelligence (AI) could add $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion to the global economy annually, there is also need to pay attention to the careers, lives and communities it will disrupt – including those who have already been left out of the global digital economy. Further, these divides are also present in developed countries. In the United States, approximately 24 million people still do not have access to high-speed internet, hindering their ability to utilise broadband-exclusive services and fully engage in the economy, according to a report.

“We have witnessed remarkable growth in the Indian space sector over the past few years, particularly since its opening to private players in 2020. The government’s progressive reforms and supportive policies are catalysing the next phase of growth in India’s New Space Age. Notable announcements like the Rs 10 billion VC Fund for space startups in the last budget, have significantly bolstered industry confidence in the government’s commitment to this domain. We expect the VC Fund to become operational in the next 2-3 months with the appointment of the fund manager. In the upcoming budget, we look forward to additional financial incentives from the government to further strengthen India’s space economy and propel this burgeoning industry toward new heights.” - Lt Gen Anil Kumar Bhatt (retd)), director general, ISpA- Indian Space Association

"Cybercriminals have become increasingly sophisticated, employing advanced persistent threats (APTs) and AI-driven social engineering attacks that can bypass traditional defenses. Businesses face added risks due to their adoption of cloud services and reliance on third-party vendors. Security gaps, such as misconfigurations, insecure APIs, and limited visibility into external networks, create vulnerabilities beyond direct control. Ransomware continues to spread, mainly targeting sectors like healthcare, finance, and government, where attackers know that operational downtime can have serious consequences, increasing the pressure to pay." - Ruchin Kumar (Vice President - South Asia, Futurex), vice president, South Asia, FutureX

Mobile networks have evolved significantly, advancing from 2G to 5G and delivering exponential improvements in connectivity. Each technological generation has been more efficient, utilising spectrum to enable broader connectivity and support a range of applications that benefit society. Among the defining features of 5G is its ability to provide faster mobile broadband speeds and reduced latency, unlocking new possibilities for advanced applications such as artificial intelligence (AI), the metaverse and internet of things (IoT). However, realising the full potential of 5G depends on communication service providers having adequate access to spectrum resources.
