Russia to deliver the 4th squadron of the S-400 system to the IAF by 2025 End 🇮🇳 🇷🇺

The delivery of India's fourth S-400 squadron from Russia, originally scheduled for 2025, may now be delayed until early 2026 due to ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. In 2018, India signed a $5.43 billion contract with Russia for five S-400 air defence squadrons.

The IAF has a requirement for 85 IJTs to replace its ageing fleet of HJT-16 Kiran trainers, which are now nearing the end of their service life.

IAF currently has 260 trainers in its inventory against the sanctioned strength of 388.

ICOMM tripod launcher for DRDO VSHORADS 🇮🇳

DRDO has shortlisted two private firms—Adani Defence Aerospace and Icomm Ltd for the development and production of a fourth-generation advanced miniaturised Very Short-Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS).

The VSHORADS has an operational range of 250 meters to 6 kilometers (820 ft to 20,000 ft) and can travel at a maximum speed of Mach 1.5 (about 1,850 km/h). It is designed to be launched from the shoulder or mounted on a tripod, making it both portable and versatile for use in various combat scenarios.

The Defense Budget allocation for FY 2025-2026 is ₹6,81,210 Cr 🇮🇳

The Union Budget 2025 allocated ₹6.81 Lakh Crore marking a 9.8% increase from ₹6.2 Lakh Crore in the current fiscal year.

₹6,81,210 Cr = $80+ Billion USD​

That Makes Defence Budget of India 1.91 per cent of the projected GDP.

Defence pensions rise to ₹1.6 Lakh Crore, 13.5% increase.

Capital Budget for Acquisition of Arms ⚔️

This year’s capital budget is ₹1,80,000 Cr which is 4.65 per cent increase from 2024-25. The Capital outlay is set for acquisition of arms.

The MoD was unable to spend the full amount of capital budget for 2024-25. It could spend ₹1,59,500 Cr out of ₹1,72,000 Cr allocated under capital in 2024-25. Total ₹13,000 Cr of originally allocated capital budget to be returned as services were unable to spend.
