The present study investigates the conceptions of happiness and unhappiness among university students from Italy and Honduras. A total of 193 Italians and 172 Hondurans took part in a questionnaire study. Respondents were asked to write down the things that made them happy (happiness sources) and those that made them unhappy (unhappiness sources). The content analysis of participants’ answers showed that there was a substantial agreement between Italians and Hondurans over the type of happiness and unhappiness sources they reported. However, the participants’ cultural background significantly influenced the perceived salience of a high number of these sources. Notably, we found several discrepancies between the participants’ cultural orientation and the semantic content of the happiness and unhappiness sources they assigned greater importance to. We also found gender differences in the perceived salience of happiness and unhappiness sources; however, these differences only referred to a small number of sources. The results were interpreted considering theory and research on individualism–collectivism. Read the article @ https://ow.ly/Z2Jg50UAeth

Ghana, one of the largest suppliers of cocoa in the global market, is widely known for its cocoa beans but not chocolate. A new wave of entrepreneurs emerging from across the African continent are now addressing this issue through efforts to grow the domestic chocolate industry. The case of ‘57 Chocolate presents an entrepreneurial initiative of two African women who are on a mission to revolutionize the chocolate industry using cocoa beans from Ghana. The case unfolds with a duo of Pan African sisters, Kimberly and Priscilla Addison, passionately using local cocoa to make premium African chocolates that are now available in both local and global markets. In addition to discussing how the brand is standing out in the chocolate market, the case identifies the competitors and goes on to evaluate how the entrepreneurial spirit of the founders is uplifting the image of Ghana. Chambers and Dunstan proposed a model-based predictor of the population distribution function that makes use of auxiliary population information under a general sampling design. Subsequently, Rao, Kovar, and Mantel proposed design-based ratio and difference predictors of the population distribution function that also use this auxiliary information. Both predictors (CD and RKM) assume a single level model for the target population. In this article the author develop predictors of the finite population distribution function for a population that follows a multilevel model. These new predictors use the same smearing approach underpinning the CD predictor. We compare our new predictors with the CD and RKM predictors via design-based simulation, and show that they perform better than these single level predictors when there is significant intra-cluster correlation. The performances of these new two level predictors are also examined via an empirical study based on data from a large-scale UK business survey aimed at estimating the distribution of hourly pay rates. The Taliban's resurgence in Afghanistan is intensifying security concerns across South Asia, impacting nations like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and beyond. With renewed ties to groups like Al-Qaeda, the Taliban's influence threatens to bolster radical organizations and separatist movements, especially along porous borders with strong ethnic connections.
The Afghanistan-Pakistan nexus further complicates regional stability, potentially empowering militant organizations. Additionally, alliances between Taliban factions and terrorist groups in Kashmir could increase the flow of recruits and weapons, worsening the security landscape.
A new study will explore India's role in promoting peace in the region and examine how New Delhi is recalibrating its strategy on Afghanistan amidst these rising threats. Click to read @ https://ow.ly/N5Uo50UtZjK
