Observing Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day serves as a time to remember the second Sikh martyr and ninth Sikh Guru who gave his life in service of the Dharma.

In defiance of the religious persecution and forced conversions to Islam under the Mughal tyrant Aurangzeb, Guru Tegh Bahadur laid down his head but not his creed.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was affectionately referred to as "Hind ki Chadar" for his supreme sacrifice in service of dharma, humanistic ideals, and beliefs.

Guru Tegh Bahadur composed 116 shabads and 15 ragas, and the Adi Granth incorporates his teachings.

The path of divinity was revealed to his disciples by Guru Tegh Bahadur. “One who vanquishes his ego and beholds the Lord as the Sole Doer of all things, that person has attained 'Jiwan Mukti' (is liberated while living), know this as the real truth” he had said.

Guru Tegh Bahadur emphasised the omnipresence of the Almighty. He stated that as Aum (Om) pervades both inside and outside, one merely needs to look within himself to connect with divinity, which resides within each of us.
