It is learned that Manipur Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh is once again attempting to breach the buffer zones by traveling to Senapati via Kangpokpi district on 18th December 2024 to attend “Robvena Ni” as Chief Guest.

The Kuki-Zo Council clarifies that it acknowledges and respects the celebration of Robvena Ni at Senapati and does not oppose CM Biren Singh's participation in the festival as a guest. However, his criminal actions cannot be overlooked, and the council cannot allow an individual with such a history of duplicity to pass through Kangpokpi by road, as this could potentially incite public unrest and lead to attacks on the CM and his entourage.

It has been 19 months, and the N. Biren Singh-led Meitei State Government, in complicity with Meitei fanatic groups, has continued its genocidal acts against the minority Kuki-Zo people. The Manipur Chief Minister’s role in inciting violence against the Kuki-Zo people is evident, and his presence could spark violence.....

Report on Manipur Violence Book Released in Delhi, Highlights State-Sponsored Ethnic Cleansing

In a solemn and intellectually charged atmosphere, scholars, book lovers, and concerned citizens gathered for the release of the book "Report on the Manipur Violence: A Historical Contextualization of State-Sponsored Ethnic Cleansing." The event, organized by the Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR), took place amidst ongoing concerns over the violence that has gripped Manipur since May 3, 2023.

The program began with a prayer by Evangelist Hoijalhing, setting a reflective tone for the event. N. Touthang, representing the Kuki Inpi Delhi, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of dispelling misinformation about the conflict, often perpetuated by those responsible for the violence.

Rt. Rev. Paothang Haokip, Bishop and Deputy Moderator of the Good Shepherd Church of India, invoked verses from the Book of Hebrews to inspire resilience. In his dedication prayer, he sought divine blessings for unity and strength in navigating the challenges facing the Kuki people.

Benjamin Mate, Chairman of KOHUR, introduced the book, outlining its critical analysis of the historical and political factors contributing to the Manipur crisis. He stressed the report's role in countering narratives that have obscured the true nature of the violence, framing the work as a tool for justice and truth.

Rajya Sabha MP from Mizoram, K Vanlalvena, attended as the Chief Guest. He spoke passionately about the shared cultural heritage of the tribes and the need for solidarity. He urged the community to view the crisis as an opportunity for unity, emphasizing the importance of tolerance and inclusivity. Highlighting the efforts in Mizoram, he called on the larger tribes in Manipur to adopt similar practices to strengthen ties within the community.

Paojakhup Guite, President of the Kuki Students’ Organization, expressed his gratitude to the contributors, particularly Benjamin Mate, for their unwavering dedication to the Kuki cause. He lauded the publication of the treatise as a pivotal step toward exposing the truth and fostering unity among the affected communities.

The event concluded with a closing prayer by Evangelist Lhaiboi Singson, as attendees dispersed with copies of the book in hand, symbolizing their commitment to understanding and addressing the ongoing crisis.

This book release marks a significant moment for the Kuki people, providing a platform for dialogue and a deeper understanding of the historical and political dynamics at play in Manipur.

Three teenagers including two from Bihar killed in Manipur by Meitei Militants

Guwahati: Dec 15, 2024
Three teenagers, including two from Bihar, were killed in two separate incidents in ethnic violence-hit Manipur on Saturday.

In the first incident, an armed Meitei Arambai Tenggol militant was killed while six others were apprehended following an encounter with police commandos in Thoubal district of the Imphal valley in the morning hours.

The police nabbed seven persons following the incident. One of them, found injured, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital later.

He was identified as Laishram Prem alias Loktak Singh (18). The police suspected the deceased and the others apprehended to be members of an insurgent group.

The armed militants opened fire after the car they were travelling in was followed by the commandos which led to the encounter. The police recovered a cache of arms and ammunition following the incident.

At around 5:20 pm, two teenage construction workers from Bihar's Gopalganj were shot dead by Meitei Arambai Tenggol militants in Kakching district.

The incident occurred on the Kakching-Wabagai Road when the victims were returning to their rented accommodation at Kakching Bazar riding bicycles.

The two were rushed to a hospital by the police but they succumbed to their injuries on the way, the local media reported.

The deceased were identified as Sunalal Kumar and Dasharat Kumar, both aged 19 years.

Who is behind the death of Sub-Inspector Sahajahan and six Meiteis in Jiribam?

Inspector Sahajahan’s tragic death has different theories. There were speculations that Inspector S. Ibotombi could be behind the crime. But none have the courage to pursue the case. However, the abduction and death of six Meitei women and children becomes an eye-opener over the theory associated with the death of SI Md. Sahajahan.

SI Sahajahan was posted at Mongbung Kuki village under the command of Inspector S. Ibotombi. In the later part of October, S. Ibotombi made a plan along with G-5 and Arambai Tenggol which Sahajahan shows his reluctance and categorically challenged Inspector S. Ibotombi. The plan was simple: *kill few Meiteis, blame Kukis, and take advantage of the situation arising out of the crisis*. According to S. Ibotombi’s calculation, such plan if carried out well will give the police and G-5 the green signal to launch a full scale and coordinated attack against Kukis.

As Sahajahan protested that he will not under any circumstances take the life of any innocent Meitei, Inspector S. Ibotombi ordered the killing of Sub Inspector Sahajahan, alledged the source.

This revelation comes from a friend of Sahajahan after the death of six Meiteis took Imphal to storm. Sahajahan reportedly confided to his close friend that S. Ibotombi is playing with the lives of people. He even disclosed that he wished to leave Jiribam as soon as possible. However, on the 2nd of November, a tragic news of SI Sahajahan being assassinated by his subordinate appeared on the news. Even then the close friend choose to remain silent.

Within two weeks, however, Jiribam witnessed nightmares. 11 Kukis including a woman were killed. This was followed by the disappearance of six Meitei women and children.

There are questions as to how six Meiteis disappeared from Meitei colony closely guarded by police and CRPF. Security establishments confirms that there were no report of Kuki movements around the vicinity where the abduction took place.

The next day, a photo of the six appeared in social media. Incidentally, the photo appeared first in Meitei group and claims it appeared in Kuki group. Until now no Kuki group claims responsibility in the abduction and death of the six Meiteis.

Kukis from the beginning avoid harming children and women. It is little hard to believe if the six were killed by Kukis. If, hypothetically, Kukis don't killed them, who actually could be behind the crime? Can someone connect the dots from the death of Sub-Inspector Sahajahan? It will be too early to implicate the involvement of certain police officers in the death of SI Sahajahan and later the six Meiteis. Nevertheless, these are evidences which cannot be neglected altogether. As the matter is under investigation, cognizance must be taken so as to ensure justice is delivered as per law.

Interestingly, Inspector S. Ibotombi who has a big role in Jiribam violence submitted his resignation from police service after the Jiribam incident? He updated his status that "he will join Meitei militant organization and fight the real battle", against Kukis. What does this mean? To some he appears revolutionary. But to some it is an attempt to evade arrest and prosecution by taking the path of an outlaw.

As mentioned earlier, it will be premature to implicate Inspector S. Ibotombi of what has happened in Jiribam. Certainly, time will tell if he is behind SI Sahajahan and six innocent Meiteis.
