In Impressive Volleyball Showdown, Rathinam College Secures Second Place in Bharathiar University Intercollegiate Tournament

In an electrifying display of skill and determination, Rathinam College's Volleyball Team achieved a notable second-place finish in the Zone Level of the Bharathiar University Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament for the 2023-24 season.

The Quaternary Finals witnessed an exceptional performance as Rathinam faced off against Sri Krishna Aditya College. The team displayed dominance in Set 1 with a resounding score of 25-13, followed by an even more impressive Set 2 victory with a score of 25-08.

Advancing to the Semifinals, Rathinam engaged in a thrilling match against Govt. Arts College, Udumalpet, where they exhibited their prowess on the court. The scores for this intense contest were 25-18 in Set 1 and 25-17 in Set 2.

The climactic Finals brought Rathinam College face to face with STC College, creating an atmosphere of intense competition. Despite a valiant effort, Rathinam ultimately conceded Set 1 with a score of 18-25 and Set 2 with a score of 15-25.

School of Science Hosts Two-Day International Conference on Current Trends in Basic and Applied Science (ICCTBAS-2023)

The School of Science is proud to announce the successful organization of the Two-day International Conference on Current Trends in Basic and Applied Science (ICCTBAS-2023) on the 11th and 12th of October. This event was jointly presented by the Department of Microbiology and the Department of Psychology, bringing together experts and enthusiasts in the field to explore the latest developments in science and psychology.

The inaugural day of the conference commenced with a distinguished inaugural ceremony. Dr. P. Srinivasan, Head of the Department of Microbiology, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. S. Balasubramaniam, Principal of Rathinam College of Arts and Science, who emphasized the importance of a multidimensional and transdisciplinary conference as a platform for the exchange of innovative scientific ideas.

Dr. Neeradha Chandramohan, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Psychology at Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Chennai, delivered the first keynote address. Her presentation shed light on the science behind clinical psychology and the underlying causes of depression among youngsters. Dr. Chandramohan shared valuable insights and conclusive ideas for addressing childhood addictions and depression, as well as highlighting current trends in Forensic Psychology.

Following this engaging session, Dr. Balan Rathakrishnan, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, elaborated on the theme of Positive Psychology. He showcased several impactful case studies where young students supported each other in overcoming life's challenges. His presentation captured the audience's attention with intriguing videos and practical examples.

The conference continued with a presentation by Dr. K.S. Natiga Nambi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Microbiology, Gandhigram Rural University, Dindigul. Dr. Nambi's session introduced groundbreaking research prospects related to cardiac arrhythmia, using the Zebrafish model. This session attracted the participation of approximately 412 students, who greatly benefited from the valuable insights shared.
