Manoj Saravanan’s career began in Tirupur, the youngster who was then pursuing his Information Technology and Animation Training paid a visit to his uncle’s garment factory, “And there my career got a complete makeover,” says the designer who splits his time between fashion design and photography.

otography is the key reason for me being a designer today. I feel both photography and designing are inter-linked, both are two major parts of the fashion industry. I started out my career as a fashion photographer, it was the motivation and immense support given by my mother and sister that made me realise that I have creative ideas inside me. My mother was my first model,” he says. Manoj completed his fashion technology at Vogue Institute Of Fashion Technology and Professional Graphic Design Training at Coimbatore and is currently working on a few private events, “A clothing line inspired by the James Bond series, a Twilight clothing line that has a new type of styling. I am also co-ordinating with a domestic brand, Arieaa, a t-shirt company where I am working on print designs.”
The young designer splits his talents between work for big brands and his own work and “Of course there is a huge difference,” he says. “There are some practical restrictions, as a designer I am not able to implement my own ideas. Some brands have tech packs where we have very limited control over what we do. But when I work on my personal projects, it is totally different. I have sole power to decide what I want and don’t want.”
For the future Manoj has even more on his plate, “There are lot of plans for the future, I want to come up with a chain of boutiques and really creative fashion shows where people will just love to sit and watch the show. I will also be having an online presence soon,” he concludes.
