A practical class designing/figuring out different menus (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) that suit each Dosha to keep Vata, Pitta and Kapha in equilibrium, using knowledge of the qualities of the Doshas, Shad Rasa (Six Tastes), and Dinacharya/Ratricharya.

About Be:
Berengere graduated in Ayurvedic Medicine from Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar, India, where she studied in a more clinical and scholarly manner with two Ayurvedic hospitals attached.
After 6 years of study, Be came to Auroville to serve at Santé for consultations and research and in the forest in Pitchandikulam and Baraka to tune with the plants.

She helps her patients to understand where the disunion lies, which Dosha or nature in the body – (Vata/Air, Pitta/Fire or Kapha/Water & Earth) creates the imbalance, the symptoms and eventually the diseases in the body and mind. Be’s personal focus is tuning with the plants, to understand their qualities, and how their energy can be transmitted for healing without sacrificing their life.

Ayurveda Intro:
Ayurveda is a universal knowledge that has always been and will always be as long as life shines in a being. It was revealed through meditation to Rishis in the heights of the Himalayas about 5000 years ago and compiled in 600BC into Charaka Samhita, the pamphlet on general medicine and Sushruta Samhita, a text on surgery.

Ayurveda’s holistic approach to the human being is based on uniting the soul, mind, senses and body. This is the requisite for health. The aim of Ayurveda is prevention (to keep the healthy one healthy all along the days, seasons and life), healing (an imbalance or disorder) and realising oneself (to feel one with oneself and the universe).

In 1995, a group of people sensitized by the relationship of human beings with nature, we decided to live in an environment that minimizes the negative impact on the environment and in which the spaces are in a relationship with each other.

THE ECOALDEA OF VALDEPIÉLAGOS was constituted on January 9, 1996 as a housing cooperative society, and during 1996 and 1997 it carried out promotion work by various means (articles in newspapers and magazines, visits to possible interested groups, call for informative meetings, etc.) , to cover the 30 partners needed to carry out the purchase of the land and its subsequent development and construction.

Our first objective was the creation of a neighborhood of 30 single-family homes with criteria of bioclimatic architecture and ecological materials.

After many vicissitudes, in 2008, the houses were already finished and we started living here.

A glimpse of Auroville an intentional township in the South of India based on the ideals of Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual companion the Mother. This film explores the aspects of renewable energy, education, health, art, economy and decision making and ending with bioregion and international effect.

Already in 1954 the Mother had spelled out an alternative formula for a new way to live and to be. She described a new society: balanced, just, harmonious and dynamic. At the time she saw that "the earth is not ready to realise such an ideal" and therefore called it ‘A Dream’. The fact that Auroville steadily grows, and its residents continue to carry this same ideal and vision in their hearts and minds, gives hope. The challenges are enormous and daring. When this dream touches you, don’t hesitate to join us.
A Dream
There should be somewhere on earth a place which no nation could claim as its own, where all human beings of goodwill who have a sincere aspiration could live freely as citizens of the world and obey one single authority, that of the supreme Truth; a place of peace, concord and harmony where all the fighting instincts of man would be used exclusively to conquer the causes of his sufferings and miseries, to surmount his weaknesses and ignorance, to triumph over his limitations and incapacities; a place where the needs of the spirit and the concern for progress would take precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions, the search for pleasure and material enjoyment.

In this place, children would be able to grow and develop integrally without losing contact with their souls; education would be given not for passing examinations or obtaining certificates and posts but to enrich existing faculties and bring forth new ones. In this place, titles and positions would be replaced by opportunities to serve and organise; the bodily needs of each one would be equally provided for, and intellectual, moral and spiritual superiority would be expressed in the general organisation not by an increase in the pleasures and powers of life but by increased duties and responsibilities.

Beauty in all its artistic forms, painting, sculpture, music, literature, would be equally accessible to all; the ability to share in the joy it brings would be limited only by the capacities of each one and not by social or financial position.

For in this ideal place money would no longer be the sovereign lord; individual worth would have a far greater importance than that of material wealth and social standing. There, work would not be a way to earn one’s living but a way to express oneself and to develop one’s capacities and possibilities while being of service to the community as a whole, which, for its own part, would provide for each individual’s subsistence and sphere of action.

In short, it would be a place where human relationships, which are normally based almost exclusively on competition and strife, would be replaced by relationships of emulation in doing well, of collaboration and real brotherhood.

The earth is certainly not ready to realize such an ideal, for mankind does not yet possess the necessary knowledge to understand and accept it nor the indispensable conscious force to execute it. That is why I call it a dream. Yet, this dream is on the way of becoming a reality. That is exactly what we are doing on a small scale, in proportion to our modest means. The achievement is indeed far from being perfect, it is progressive; little by little we advance towards our goal, which, we hope, one day we shall be able to hold before the world as a practical and effective means of coming out of the present chaos in order to be born into a more true, more harmonious new life.

In this series we interview Aurovilliens about their personal experiences with the Matrimandir in Auroville. Today it is Amy. She came to Auroville when the construction of the Matrimandir was underway. She worked in the gardens to set it up alongside the structure that would eventually shape into the Matrimandir. She believes that her experience with the Matrimandir has been holistic and reckons that it would have been totally different, had she arrived in Auroville after the construction of the Matrimandir was complete…

This Web series is a human experiment, looking into how the aurovilliens relate to the soul of Auroville - the Matrimandir. Hoping that this is the common ground for human unity. The dream is to interview all citizens of Auroville.

A trip to the Himalayas is incomplete without a vacation in Ladakh. You might have flown, driven or ridden a motorcycle there, already. Have you wondered how long the unspoilt beauty of Ladakh will stay unspoilt? What’s the cost of our progress?

Here a motorcycle questions us on those very issues, the choices we have made that are threatening not only Ladakh, but our very existence.

Can we change our ways to not just keep taking from Mother Nature, but give too? How can we progress, yet have a symbiotic relationship with Mother Earth? If a motorcycle is concerned, shouldn’t we as humans care about life on this planet?

There may be innumerable planets in the Universe, but this is the only place we can call home. Let us live and let live.

In this series we interview Aurovilliens about their personal experiences with the Matrimandir in Auroville. Today it is Serena. The first time Serena saw Matrimandir was in a magazine at London Airport. She was flying to India and coincidentally she was also visiting Pondicherry. While in Pondicherry Serena rented a bicycle and rode to Auroville. She saw the Matrimandir from the viewing point and rode back. Little did Serena know that it was the beginning of a bond, where the Matrimandir became a part of her being…

This Web series is a human experiment, looking into how the aurovilliens relate to the soul of Auroville - the Matrimandir. Hoping that this is the common ground for human unity. The dream is to interview all citizens of Auroville.

At the very centre of Auroville one finds the 'soul of the city', the Matrimandir.
The name 'Matrimandir' literally means 'Temple of the Mother'. According to Sri Aurobindo, the 'Mother' concept stands for the great evolutionary, conscious and intelligent principle of Life, the Universal Mother, - which seeks to help humanity move beyond its present limitations into the next stage of its evolutionary adventure, the supramental consciousness.

The Matrimandir can be viewed as a large golden sphere which seems to be emerging out of the earth, symbolising the birth of a new consciousness. Situated in a large open area called 'Peace', from where the future township will radiate outwards. Since the past 50 years, Matrimandir's slow and steady progress towards completion has been followed by many. The atmosphere is quiet and charged, and the area beautiful.

In this series we interview Aurovilliens about their personal experiences with the Matrimandir in Auroville. To...

Recognised by UNESCO, Ecovillage Design Education was specifically designed to enable people and communities coming together to reclaim responsibility for their living situations – at local and regional levels. The EDE is a comprehensive course in the fundamentals of Sustainability Design. It is organised as a mandala that we call the sustainability wheel, encompassing what we perceive to be the four primary interweaving dimensions of human experience – Worldview, Ecological, Social and Economic aspects.

This 5 week course was held at the forest of Pitchandikulam in Auroville India, and attended by 36 participants from all over the world. This documentary explores what an EDE is and feedback from the participants.

Gaia Education was created by a group of educators called "GEESE"- Global Ecovillage Educators for a Sustainable Earth- who have been meeting over a series of workshops in order to formulate their transdisciplinary approach to education for sustainability.

After realising she has a 50% chance of dying in Auroville, Danielle De Diesbach interviews 18 Aurovilians about their views on death.

Congratulations! We are pleased to announce that your film Conversations on Death has won the Wisdom award in the Aurovilians category, AVFF 2022.

The Wisdom award under the category of Auroville films at the 2022 Auroville Film Festival is given to ‘Conversations on Death’ with Aurovilians by Serena Aurora and Danielle de Diesbach. A thought-provoking exposition, the film reflects on the meaning of death, and ‘death in Auroville’. A wide gamut of ideas is brought forth including the conquest of death “where each cell of our body will have to become conscious.”
Pithy words by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother punctuate Danielle de Diesbach’s exploration as she sets out to interview Aurovillians, young and old. The perspectives of the interviewees along with the meditative words and music offer an understanding that frees you from the fear and apprehension of death. “The material or physical causes of death are not its sole or its true cause: its true inmost reason is the spiritual necessity for the evolution of a new being.” The film is aurally and visually orchestrated with substance and meaning, drawing ‘Death’, typically considered a ‘dark’ subject, into the light.

Réalisant qu'elle pourrait mourir alors qu'elle se trouve à Auroville, Danielle de Diesbach décide d'interviewer 18 membres de cette communauté spirituelle pour mieux comprendre leur vision de la mort.
