Hey #mastering guys #soundengineers #studios ! We are presenting a video with audio & the explanation given by a Well known Mastering Engineer @san_page_ & do hope is useful for this community ! San uses #Cranesong HEDD on his last ring even for final ‘dithering’ ! Please check/hear with the bypass mode & later by engaging HEDD IN Mode & you shall yourself find the punch & amazing clarity ! Although dithering is an important step of the mastering process, knowing how to use it, when to use it, and why you should use it will improve your recordings and final mastered audio files. Dither is low volume noise, introduced into digital audio when converting from a higher bit-resolution to a lower bit-resolution. The process of reducing bit-resolution causes quantization errors, also known as truncation distortion, which if not prevented, can sound very unpleasant. To understand this better, we must understand bit-depth. San uses HEDD to chop the clips as well for the final master ! Hedd is very tricky and iamazing when one knows how to utilise on the chain ! It shouldn't be in the middle but last of the final audio chain ! HEDD & another one gear alone are the only mastering series in which dithering is available at the moment ! It was inspired by a device called Pacific Microsonics Model Two A-D/D-A Converter ! In USA most of the stunning mastering project go to the one Studios or Mastering Engineer who still own / maintain this Pacific Microsonics Model Two A-D/D-A Converter-vintage converter though It has been discontinued due to some unavailability of its parts from Denmark ! Got it guys right as your comments can be very important to know the veracity of the above explanation !
