Dolomite Loading in Birpara Sparks Controversy

Dolomite loading and unloading activities have been ongoing in Birpara for a long time, causing inconvenience to local residents. The failure to relocate dolomite operations from the area has led to growing frustration among the people of Birpara.

On Wednesday, Alipurduar Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and Alipurduar MP Manoj Tigga held a meeting at Dalgam Railway Station to discuss various issues. Upon learning about the meeting, members of the social organization "Voice of Birpara" gathered at the station with placards to protest against dolomite loading.

Protest and Tension During the Meeting
While the meeting between the DRM and MP was underway, members of Voice of Birpara continued their protest outside. Their primary demand was the immediate cessation of dolomite loading at Dalgam station and its relocation elsewhere.

During the meeting, MP Manoj Tigga firmly stated that dolomite loading operations at Dalgam Station should remain suspended until the operations are relocated.

Women Protesters Block DRM’s Car
As part of the protest, members of Voice of Birpara requested the DRM to inspect the newly constructed platform number 2 at Dalgam Railway Station. However, the DRM left the station without conducting the inspection. In response, women protesters blocked the DRM’s car and intensified their demonstration.

Statements from MP and Organization
MP Manoj Tigga said, “The movement to stop dolomite rakes at Dalgam has been ongoing for a long time. Several letters have been exchanged. I have now made it clear to the railway authorities that dolomite loading here must be stopped.”
Voice of Birpara President Chatur Panwar stated, “Everyone in Birpara is united against dolomite rakes. We have clearly conveyed this to the DRM.”

DRM’s Response
Alipurduar DRM, Amarjeet Gautam, assured that the matter would be brought to the attention of higher authorities.

Conclusion
The controversy surrounding dolomite loading in Birpara continues to escalate. Local residents are eagerly awaiting administrative action to resolve the issue.

: Student Loses Life Near Marathon Finish Line 🙏🏻 OM SHANTI

In a deeply tragic incident, 20-year-old Riyaz Rai, a first-year B.Sc. student at Uttar Banga Krishi Vidyalaya (UBKV), lost his life while participating in an 8.5 km marathon organized by the university in Pundibari, Coochbehar. The event, held as part of the Vivek Utsav celebrations, turned into a heartbreaking memory for all.

Riyaz, a bright and promising student from Gorubathan in the Dooars, collapsed just moments before reaching the finish line. The marathon, which began at Patlakhawa and ended at the UBKV campus, was supposed to be a joyful occasion but ended in grief. Despite efforts to save him, Riyaz couldn’t be revived. His untimely passing has left his family, friends, and university community in profound sorrow, marking a somber note in what was meant to be a day of celebration.
