Mangalajodi also known as birds paradise is located in the northern part of Chilika lake in Odisha where lakhs of migratory birds gather during winter season. It is the only place in India where large flocks of different species of colourful birds can be seen very closely.
This is not only the place for birders but also a Photographer’s Paradise. Here more than 200 species of birds such as Ruffs, Godwit, Terns, Plover, Sandpiper, rare Grey-headed Lapwing, Gull, Pintail, Ruddy Shelduck, Ruddy-breasted Crake, Bailon Crake, Slaty-breasted rails, Greater Painted Snipes, Black-tailed Godwits, Oriental Prantincoles, Pacific Gilden Plovers and etc. have been recorded during winters.
These birds travel to Mangalajodi from different parts of Europe, Central Asia and Siberia because the climate here is very suitable for them and food is also available in abundance. Mangalajodi is also a protected ecosystem which helps these birds to thrive happily without any external harm.
The best time to see these birds is during December to February.

It’s a temple from Satya Yuga which is known as the golden era in Hinduism. TriyugiNarayan temple has been standing for 3 Yugas and there is a flame lit inside it which actually is an eternal flame because it has never been extinguished since Satya Yuga. It is the same flame in front of which Lord Shiva Married Goddess Parvati who was daughter of King Himavat also known as the King of Himalayas. As it is a Vishnu temple and has been standing for 3 Yugas, so the name of temple is TriyugiNarayan.
