The Naupada Police have arrested Abhijit Nair, 27, the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run at Nitin Company Junction on the Eastern Express Highway. The tragic incident occurred late Monday night when Nair’s speeding Mercedes hit 21-year-old Darshan Hegde, who was on his two-wheeler. After the accident, Nair fled the scene, sparking public outrage. The police launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage, and eventually traced the car to a parking lot in Mumbai, where it was seized. 📢 Mulund Residents to Challenge State Govt's Plan to Use Salt Pan Land for Dharavi Rehabilitation🏠⚖️

Residents of Mulund East are preparing to take legal action against the Maharashtra government's decision to rehabilitate families affected by the Dharavi redevelopment project on local salt pan land. 🌱 A PIL is expected to be filed in the Bombay High Court on Friday, as locals express serious concerns over the environmental and infrastructural impact of this move.

👥 Key Concerns:
- **Environmental Threat:** Mulund East residents highlight that the salt pans acted as a buffer during the 2005 floods, protecting the area from severe waterlogging. 🌧️ They fear that high-rise construction will make the region more vulnerable to future floods.
- nfrastructural Collapse: Locals warn that the area’s infrastructure—roads, water supply, and sanitation systems—cannot support the anticipated population surge. With the construction of a colony for project-affected families underway, the population could increase by 10 times. 🛤️💧
- Preserving Tranquillity: Many residents, like senior citizen Gangadhar Tulsankar, stress that Mulund East is known for its calm environment, which they fear will be compromised.

🚨 Voices of Concern:
“We are not against the Dharavi residents, but we are worried about Mulund’s future,” said Dhanashree Prabhu. “After rehabilitation, our infrastructure will collapse.”

Experts and environmentalists have also voiced strong opposition. Town planners and ecologists warn of the potential destruction of vital natural flood barriers, with Anand Pendharkar, CEO of SPROUTS, calling it a disastrous decision for Mumbai’s ecology.”

As the battle over Mumbai’s salt pans heats up, residents are urging the state to reconsider and explore in-situ rehabilitation within Dharavi. 🌍

Breaking News: Maharashtra Approves Controversial Use of Salt-Pan Land for Housing Project 🏘️

In a major decision, the Maharashtra government has approved the acquisition of 255.9 acres of ecologically fragile salt-pan land from the Centre to house residents excluded from the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, led by the Adani Group. 🌱

This move has sparked outrage among Dharavi residents, who demand in-situ rehabilitation, and environmentalists, who warn of an "ecological disaster" for Mumbai. Salt pans act as natural flood buffers, absorbing rainwater and reducing the risk of flooding in the city. 🌧️

🔍 The decision has drawn comparisons to the catastrophic 2005 floods, with experts warning this could make Mumbai even more vulnerable to climate-related disasters. 🌊

On Monday late night, an FIR was registered against AIMIM protestors for blocking the road after a protest rally on Kopri Highway. Around 11:30 p.m. on September 23, AIMIM party members claimed they were unable to contact their MP, Imtiaz Jaleel, and were unaware of the current situation, leading them to wait on the highway for hours. To manage the crowd, the police had to resort to a baton charge.

The protest march, led by former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel, included over 12,000 members from the Muslim community, along with various political and social groups. They had gathered to demand action against BJP MLA Nitesh Rane and preacher Ramgiri Maharaj for their alleged hate speeches. However, late on Monday night, the massive crowd was denied entry into Mumbai and had to turn back from Mulund Check Naka.

The protest, named the 'Tiranga Samvidhan Rally,' began from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and involved hundreds of vehicles traveling to Mumbai via the Samruddhi Expressway from different parts of Marathwada. The convoy caused significant traffic disruptions, marking the first time a protest rally had jammed the expressway. The police stopped the rally at Mulund Check Naka and registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for the road blockade.

To maintain law and order at Mulund Check Naka, a large police force was deployed on Monday night, including the Additional Police Commissioner, ACP, and senior police inspectors at the scene.

12/08/2024

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has given the green light for Oberoi Realty to acquire Nirmal Lifestyle Realty through a ₹273 crore resolution plan. Under this plan, existing equity shares of Nirmal Lifestyle Realty will be canceled, effectively reducing its share capital to zero. Oberoi Realty will then inject new equity by subscribing to 1 lakh shares, taking full ownership of the company.

A key condition of the acquisition involves obtaining necessary permissions regarding Nirmal Lifestyle Realty's land in the eco-sensitive zone near Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai. These permissions must be secured within 180 days of the NCLT's approval; otherwise, the resolution plan will be void, and Oberoi Realty will be released from all obligations, with any deposits refunded.

The tribunal's ruling also addresses ongoing legal matters involving Nirmal Lifestyle Realty, directing that claims and benefits from these proceedings be managed by the creditors' committee.
