Neelakhanteswar Swargdam: A Crumbling site!!!
Berhampur [BP]: The once pristine Neelakhanteswar Swargdam, a beloved landmark of Berhampur, is now a victim of neglect. The site is slowly decaying, marred by overgrown vegetation and accumulated debris.
A significant development project undertaken by the Rotary Club of Berhampur in 2018 with gallery, platforms, landscape, water facilities, worth over a crore rupees, promised to revitalize the Swargdam. However, due to a dispute over naming rights, the project was halted, leaving the site in limbo.
The BeMC, the local governing body, has also shied away from taking responsibility for the maintenance of the Swargdam. As a result, the site has been left to deteriorate, with no regular cleaning or upkeep.
Concerned citizens of Berhampur are now demanding urgent intervention to save the Swargdam from further decay. Some have suggested handing over the maintenance responsibility back to the Rotary Club, given their previous involvement in the development project.
The future of Neelakhanteswar Swargdam hangs in the balance. Unless immediate action is taken by Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), this cherished site risks being lost forever.

Chaos at Puri Railway Station: Aged Devotees Face Difficulty!!!
Aged devotees traveling from Puri to Gandhi Dham Junction on train number 22974 faced immense difficulty today, November 16, 2024, due to a lack of coach number display on Platform No. 6. The absence of this crucial information forced elderly passengers, already burdened with heavy luggage, to frantically search for their coaches.
The train, which departed from Puri at 11:15 AM, was supposed to display coach numbers on Platform No. 6. However, the display system failed, causing undue stress and discomfort to the aged passengers. Many of these devotees were traveling for a devotional trip, carrying heavy luggage and facing significant challenges in locating their coaches.
"This is unacceptable," said one passenger. "We were already worried about our journey, and this added to our anxiety." The lack of coach number display not only caused inconvenience but also raised concerns about the railway's ability to provide basic amenities to its passengers.

Business Community Unites Against GST Harassment, 500 business owners participated in the Rally!!!
Today, November 8, 2024, over 500 business owners and representatives from the Ganjam Chamber of Commerce, Jewelers Association, Food Traders Association, and other commercial organizations gathered to protest GST-related raids and the mental strain they cause to the business community. The rally, sparked by a recent raid on the house and shop of Late Penta Hariprasad, a respected gold merchant from Jeypore, Koraput district, aimed to draw attention to the undue pressure placed on entrepreneurs and the disruption of their livelihood.
The Rally's Route and Purpose: Beginning at 10 AM from the Ganjam Chamber office, the rally passed through key areas of the city, including Biraka Street, Hanuman Bazar, and Giri Market, before culminating at the GST and RDC offices. Participants submitted a formal memorandum to the GST Commissioner and RDC, urging the government to adopt a balanced approach to GST compliance without unfairly targeting small and medium enterprises.
A Call for Reform: The demonstration reflects a broader call for regulatory practices that support, rather than hinder, the entrepreneurial spirit of the region. Business representatives argue that GST-related raids during festive periods, when businesses see heightened activity, cause unnecessary distress. The rally's organizers hope that their efforts will ensure no other business owner suffers the same distress faced by Late Penta Hariprasad.
Key Demands: Balanced Approach to GST Compliance: Avoid unfairly targeting small and medium enterprises.
Regulatory Reform: Support entrepreneurial growth and development.
Protection from Unwarranted Raids: Prevent unnecessary distress and disruption of livelihood.
The business community's united stand against GST harassment sends a strong message to government authorities and senior officials, emphasizing the need for reform and support for entrepreneurs.

Berhampur's Nua Bondho Pond Turns Death Trap, Residents Demand Action
The Nua Bondho pond (Diamond Tank), located back side of the Rotary Community Service Hall in Berhampur, has become a hazardous hotspot due to lack of maintenance. Without boundary walls, the pond poses a significant risk, especially after a recent tragic incident claimed one life.
Years of neglect have filled the pond with waste, emitting a foul odor and making its water unsafe for human use. Despite previous renovation efforts under the previous BJD government's initiative to revamp 2000 ponds, poor upkeep has rendered the pond dangerous.
Local residents, who rely on the pond, are now demanding immediate cleaning and boundary wall construction to prevent further tragedies.
