DC Baramulla
The earthquake has severely impacted the daily lives of the residents. Elderly individuals , ladies and children are experiencing deep depression, and many children are unable to attend schools due to fear and anxiety. Additionally, women in our community are reluctant to stay indoors, fearing further tremors.
Despite the gravity of the situation, there appears to be a lack of official advisory from the administration, particularly in District Baramulla, which has exacerbated the sense of insecurity among the people.
In light of the above, I kindly request the following actions be taken by your esteemed office:
1. Issuance of an Official Advisory: An advisory should be released immediately, providing guidance on safety measures to be taken by residents in the event of further tremors, including instructions on where to seek shelter and how to protect oneself.
2. Provision of Mental Health Support: Considering the psychological impact of the earthquake, it is crucial to provide mental health support to the affected individuals, particularly children and the elderly, to help them cope with the trauma.
4. Public Communication: Regular updates and communications from the administration would help reassure the public and reduce panic. A clear line of communication should be established for reporting any further incidents or damages.
5.Inspection of Damaged Structures: I urge you to deploy teams to inspect the structures that have sustained cracks and other damage, to assess their safety and determine whether any need to be evacuated or reinforced.??????
