Music in the mid-nineties was changing spheres and while the rest of the world was trying to understand the dynamism it was taking on, ALL ONE MAN WANTED TO DO WAS LISTEN TO A RECORD! Music, a simple escape, soon became a passion and then, Clement D’souza’s reality. Even though he was new to turn tables he was already getting set for the catapult his professional life was about to take. When yo
u meet Clement, you are drawn in immediately. From the instant you interact, his sense of musicality becomes apparent. And when you understand his journey, it all fits together perfectly. He has this dynamism about him that tunes the conversation to reflect your style, character & inclination (musically, of course!). The quintessential underdog and success story par excellence, the life of the man is as unique and magnetic as the man himself. Having lost his parents as a child, he navigated the dire straits of life using music as a means to cope or “deal”. Later on, this coping mechanism became his superpower. His connection with and perception of the times was so deep and profound that he could project his experience onto his audience - immediately understanding how they would connect with the songs he spun on his console and what they needed to get the best experience possible. He is one of the few individuals that has the ability to convey and transfer his own euphoric feelings with music to those he is fortunate to entertain through his art. When Clement began his career, deejaying was not a popular art form, however, he took to it very naturally. It started with turning tables and experimenting with different genres. He became adept at sensing the mood and quickly adjusting to give his audience exactly what they needed. Right from the famous 12-hour set at MTV India’s longest party to the Smirnoff experiences, he has played at the Axe Voodoo party, Dance Ganesha, Ciroc Sundowner, Bacardi Blast, and the Channel V parties. Sunburn, which began in 2007, has now become one of Asia’s largest music festivals. Clement has been a part of this festival since its inception. He has played at big festivals in India, including Reload, Mudrush, Goa’s Oktoberfest, The Goa Carnival, The Kingfisher & Indivibe’s final wave. He was also invited to play for the Notting Hill Carnival in England, and the Gaia Festival in Greece. His impressive career, spanning over 2 decades, boasts gigs at clubs across Mumbai and Bangalore - Royalty, China House, Club Inferno, Spin, Hypnos, Insomnia, City Bar, Sutra, etc. He is a regular at the IPLs and has been the official DJ for Mumbai Indians for 10 years and counting. He has shared the stage with some of the biggest international artists, including Akon, Nadia Ali, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Fedde le Grand, Deniz Koyu, Skazi, Infected Mushroom, Kaskade, Chicane, Wolf Pack, Axwell, Ilan Bluestone, Paul van D**e, Albin Myers, Sander van Doorn, W & W, Rehab, Guy J, Arnej, Marco V, Dirty South, Riva Star, Starkillerz, JEZ, Pereira, and GMS. His deejaying abilities and original mixes afforded him the opportunity to travel to multiple places around the world, including Miami, Hawaii, New York, Spain, Barcelona, Tenerife, France, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Manchester, London, Dubai, Doha, Qatar, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bali, etc. Apart from his key areas of expertise - house and trance, he also mixes Bollywood music and has played at several upscale private parties, with celebrities like Hrithik Roshan, Arjun Rampal, Shilpa Shetty, and Salman Khan. Clement believes that music is a gift that keeps on giving and to pay it forward and strengthen the art form of deejaying, he established his own music academy. His school is touted as one of the best institutes that cater to those aspiring for a career in producing or playing electronic music. He has been featured by many media houses for his talent and inspirational life story - his life experience not only gave him the opportunity to understand the deviations and different transitions of music but also affords him a steady foresight into the future of electronic music. His work is setting the tone for the future in electronic and house music and his style & talent for his craft remains unmatched.
