DC Bandipora distributed assistive aids among differently abled persons

Bandipora, July 30: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad on Friday distributed various aids and assistive aids among differently abled persons as part of CSR by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC)

The various aids and assistive devices were distributed among 122 persons with disabilities during a camp at the office of Department of Social Welfare Ajar in presence of Ashish Kumar Chouksey, Head Kishenganga Power Project, DSWO Bandipora GM Dar, Officers of NHPC, ALIMCO, and President Handicapped Association Bandipora.

The aid and assistive devices include 98 Hearing Aids, 24 walking sticks, 13 tricycles, 27 wheel chairs, 6 CP Chairs, , 7 smart canes, 2 smart phones, 5 MR Kits, 3 rotators and 18 calipars at a total cost of Rs 10.05 lakhs.

Beneficiaries have been identified during assessment camps conducted by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, Bandipora in the month of March, 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Bandipora appreciated efforts of NHPC and Social Welfare department to ease the problems faced by differently abled people and hand holding them regularly. He said the district administration is akin to the problems faced by the people with special needs and assured them every possible support that will ease the problems of such people.

Dr Owais stressed on providing better facilities to the children with special abilities so that they can get a better education. He said providing better education and healthcare facilities to such individuals should be the priority for all and assured that all required measures shall be taken to ensure a better education for these individuals.

Bandipora Encounter: Two militants killed; search ops going on

Srinager, Jul 24 (KNO): Two militants have been killed in a gunfight that broke out between militants and security forces at Shokbaba area of Sumlar in North Kashmir's Bandipora.

Official sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about presence of militants in the forest area of Shokbaba.

“As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter," they said.

They said that two militants have been killed, while search operation was going on in the area—(KNO)

70 year old man sets himself ablaze in Bandipora village

Bandipora, 20 July: A 70-year-old man allegedly committed su***de by setting himself ablaze in North Kashmir's Bandipora district, the police said here on monday. Noor Hussain, a resident of the Quilmuqam area of Bandipora, was shifted to a Bandipora hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, the police said.

The official said that it was not immediately known as to why he took this extreme step. The official said that police have started an investigation into the matter.

*Bandipora police arrested a drug peddler at Quilmuqam Aloosa.Contraband substance recovered,FIR registered*

Bandipora 19 July 2021:-
Bandipora police continuing its drive against the menace of drugs today arrested a drug peddler at Quilmuqam Aloosa and recovered contraband substance Proxywel Spos tablets from his possession.

Acting on a specific information,a police party led by I/C Police Post Aloosa SI Shakeel Ahmad, under the supervision of DYSP HQRs Bandipora Shri Mohmad Idrees -JKPS during naka checking at Quilmuqam Aloosa arrested one person along with 300 Tablets of Proxywel Spos.
The accused has been identified as Fida Hussain Mir S/o Mohd Shaban Mir R/o Ward No. 06 Bandipora.

During preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the recovered drugs were meant to be supplied to youths of the area to make them drug addicts. Accordingly case FIR No. 121/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in police station Bandipora and further investigation has been taken up.
People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers and help police in eradicating the menace of drugs.

On the direction of SSP Bandipora sh. Mohammad Zahid-JKPS, Bandipora police continuing its public reach out programme, today organised a PCPG meeting at Wular Ventage Park Garoora Aragam.

The meeting was chaired by DySP PC Bandipora Sh.Faizan Ali-JKPS and SHO PS Aragam Inspector Javed Ahmed.

The meeting was attended by Civil society members and elected representatives, other notable persons of the area.

During the meeting stress was laid on the adherence to COVID appropriate behaviour especially in view of the upcoming Eid festival, besides cooperation was also sought from the participants to root out the menaces of drugs and other social menaces and the participants jointly resolved to fight against anti national activities and drugs resolutely.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues were raised and some minor issues were resolved on the spot and others were put up for resolution.
The meeting ended on a positive note.

Srinagar, 17 July: Social activis Benish, hailing from downtown Srinagar, vice president and district coordinator of Aab e Rawan NGO.

While interacting with Benish, she said that I was born in a middle class family in downtown Srinagar.

My Schooling is done from Woodland House School Srinagar, then I pursued Diploma in civil engineering from Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) & Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from SSM College of engineering & technology.

I am a Social activist and a Artist too, currently I am working in a private firm as Site office coordinator, and Vice president of Aab e Rawan NGO.

We have organized many events through Aabe E Ravan like Lal Ded, Rooh e Anwar and many more. We have also conducted a successful Painting competition at Kupwara.

During the lockdown, I did many things through my NGO to help people like distributing food kits, arranging blood donation camps and arranging oxygen concentration etc.

Talking about my Art, my love for art was from small age, since my school days I loved painting, sketching and art & craft. I have won many painting as well as handwriting competition.

My message for youth is that “ Raise your head high and leave all the fear of mind behind. Never step back when the storm comes, instead face it with the full courage”, she said.
