**First Oath Ceremony of Breng Journalists Association Held at Wild Trout Café, Kokernag**

Kokernag, January 16: The Breng Journalists Association (BJA) held its first oath ceremony on Tuesday at the Wild Trout Café in Bidder, Kokernag. The event centered around the agenda, “Rising Issues of Society That Need to Be Addressed and Highlighted by Administration and Media,” bringing together various dignitaries, journalists, and officials.

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kokernag and line departments, alongside the Station House Officer (SHO) of Kokernag and a Major from the Rashtriya Rifles (RR).

On this occasion, the SDM extended his congratulations to the newly elected office bearers of the association, including President Hilal Ahmed Rather, Vice President Majid Salam, General Secretary Shafiq Tantray, and other members. He lauded the formation of the association, stating, “This organization will bring more clarity and recognition to the local media landscape, as it provides an official platform for journalists. Earlier, we often struggled to identify who was a media person and who was not. Now, with this association in place, this challenge will be addressed.”

The ceremony highlighted the association’s commitment to tackling pressing social issues, such as drug abuse, dowry, environmental protection and corruption. Members of the association vowed to work toward creating a drug-free society and promoting transparency and accountability.

President Hilal Ahmed Rather, in his address, pledged to work honestly and diligently for the association and the welfare of the community. “Our primary objective is to bridge the gap between the administration and the public by highlighting key issues and ensuring government schemes reach the grassroots level,” he stated.

Vice President Majid Salam and General Secretary Shafiq Tantray echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing their dedication to the association's mission of fostering responsible journalism and addressing societal challenges.

The formation of the Breng Journalists Association marks a significant step in organizing and empowering media professionals in the region. With its stated commitment to addressing societal concerns and strengthening ties between the public and administration, the association has set a promising foundation for impactful journalism in Kokernag and its surrounding areas.
