WELCOME TO ALIGARH CITY Nestled in the northern region of Uttar Pradesh, Aligarh is one of the largest cities in the state. Historically, Aligarh has benefited greatly from the fertile soil of the doab in-between the Yamuna and Ganga rivers. The area has witnessed several important events in Indian history. The Battle of Aligarh in 1803 played a crucial role in the life of the country during both the Mughal and British administered periods. Aligarh offers many attractions for the tourist.
The Aligarh Muslim University is a star attraction on the list as it is the focal point of the city's cultural and work life. Another attraction is the amazing Aligarh Fort that was built during the reign of Ibrahim Lodi. Interestingly, the city was named after this fort. Among others, Maulana Azad Library, Teerthdham Mangalaayatan, Khereshwar Temple and the Great Value Mall are also some prominent sights. The city is also home to some metal and agriculture industries.
