Gallant said Hamas’s Khan Younis Brigade had been “defeated and does not function as a military entity in any way.”
“Hamas is left with marginal [forces] in the central camps and with the Rafah Brigade, and what stands between them and a complete collapse as a military system is a decision by the IDF,” he said.

A lot has been said about the ongoing war in Israel. While the world’s focus is on the terrible humanitarian crisis in Gaza, little is said about the humanitarian crisis in Israel.
A country as small as Wales, or the state of New Jersey has been forced to uproot and evacuate over 100,000 Israelis from their homes because they reside in what is now a new war zone.
For Israel the phrase: “When it rains, it pours” has never been truer. The challenges our nation has to face usually come accompanied by additional ones as a result...

IDI’s latest Israeli Voice Index found that a vast majority of Israelis want early elections. Among Arab respondents, a majority responded that elections should be announced immediately and held within three months, in accordance with the law. Jewish respondents, on the other hand, were more inclined to wait until the end of the war.
Sharp differences could also be seen in a breakdown by political orientation. 71% of left-wing voters wanted an immediate declaration of elections, while only 11% of right-wing voters concurred.
Read the latest survey:

59% of Jewish Israelis oppose a deal that would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state with guarantees from the US and peace agreements with Arab states such as Saudi Arabia; when asked to choose, 51% of Israelis said they think the main goal of the war should be bringing the hostages home...

After Auschwitz is liberated, Otto Frank returns to Amsterdam. On his way back, he hears of Edith’s death. Back in Amsterdam, he goes to see Miep and Jan Gies. He hopes his daughters Anne and Margot might still be alive, but then discovers that they too did not survive the war. Miep gives him Anne’s diaries.

Otto had always thought that he had a fair idea of what went on inside Anne’s head. But when he read her texts, he realised that this had not been the case. ‘The Anne that appeared before me was very different from the daughter I had lost. I had no idea of the depth of her thoughts and feelings.’ Anne had wanted her diary to be published after the war, and her wish came true. Otto found a publisher and Annes's diary was published in 1947, just over five years after her thirteenth birthday, the day she received her diary as a birthday present.

The House is set to vote on a legislative package providing aid to Israel without any spending cuts when lawmakers return to Washington next week, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced over the weekend.

Johnson will push for the passage of a $17 billion aid package to Israel in a move to preempt the Senate's bipartisan deal.
