The Miami Jewish Film Festival (MJFF) is set to return for its 23rd edition January 9 through 23, 2020, when it will premiere more than a hundred films from 25 countries. The fest will screen its largest collection yet and boasts 33 films directed by women (composing nearly a third of the lineup).

Ramat Hasharon, 1992: A well-known kindergarten teacher is accused of severely abusing the children in her care. The accusers: the kindergarten teacher’s assistant and a one of the parents. An ambitious police officer obtains incriminating testimony from the parents. The kindergarten teacher is thrown into a detention cell with prostitutes and drug addicts. Twenty-four years later, every morning the kindergarten teacher leaves her home, which is next door to the kindergarten that is no longer under her supervision, wandering the streets with no hope.

Dan Ben-Amotz was the epitome of “Israeliness”. He was a prolific and accomplished creator who constantly reinvented himself, while carrying an entire society, language, and culture that were not yet fully formed. In April 1989, just before undergoing an experimental treatment for cancer, Ben-Amotz held a “farewell party."
D.B.A returns to that mythological goodbye party to tell the story of an influential icon who has since been tossed, with his friends, into the dustbin of history.
