We are so honoured to welcome Brian Lennon to Westival as he launches his debut solo album ‘A Matter of Time’ with a host of special guests.

Brian is well known as a founding member of Mayo-based traditional group Céide and Galway-based chamber choir Cois Cladaigh, in 2004 he became the conductor of Cór Mhaigh Eo. It was through meeting friends in the choral setting that the seven-piece vocal ensemble Coda was formed. Coda released their first album ‘Mouthmusic’ in 2011 to critical acclaim. Their second album ‘Train of Spirits’ was released in 2017 and featured the first self-penned songs by Lennon.

We were delighted to welcome our good friend Mundy to the Clew Bay Recording Studios last week. He visited Westport for 3 days with his camera crew, shooting a 30 minute documentary which will focus on “the beauty, the people, the community spirit, the music and the food” of the Best Town in Ireland. The programme will be aired on the America’s PBS TV channel later in the Autumn. Our thanks to Declan Askin, Peter Molloy, Des Cafferkey and Raf Dubrinski who recorded with Mundy for the programme. It sounds fantastic lads !
Special word of thanks also to renowned artist, John Blakey, whose book and music CD, “The Legend of Icasus O Toole ( the incredible naked flying man of Achill) will be featured on the programme. The book &music CD can now be purchased at Tertulia Books at the Quay Westport or via John’s page.
Best of luck with the programme Mundy! We are looking forward to seeing it and indeed we are looking forward to having you back to record a few tracks in the Clew Bay Recording Studio in the coming weeks.
