The Art Crimes Band has officially celebrated International Jazz Day on various occasions in the past marked with live shows in and around their hometown Cork City. However while still on hiatus from live shows to focus on studio recording and as Jazz lovers the group didn't want to miss this chance to be a part of Jazz Day.

An audio version of this performance will be available from May 6th via all streaming services on the Sugo Music record label.

This week last year Colm Hayes Music shared the third and final installment of his "Colm Hayes and Friends In Isolation" series with his song 'New England'

"I think New England is best described as a gentle song of foreboding; one that feels especially poignant today. In it, the protagonist surrenders to disillusionment, searching for a way out of a seemingly impossible situation. Before The Day Was New’ was born on a summer‘s eve in 2011 and had been gathering dust on the cutting room floor. No sooner had I written the song, than I had forgotten it. As luck would have it, I found myself whistling it’s melody to myself a couple of weeks ago. It’s time it seems had finally come! Funny how these things can happen. It’s been a real joy witnessing this song come to life over the last few days and I owe a debt of gratitude to the team of incredible musicians who volunteered their time and energy to the project - Cian McCarthy, Cárthach Ó Nuanáin, Grace McMahon, Gary Baus, Tom Edwards and Niall Dennehy.
