One of our former guests, Kathleen Stock, was in the news this week after students at the University of Suss*x protested her employment and accused her of transphobia. If you are interested in actually hearing what Dr. Stock has to say - instead of running with the name-calling and accusations - you can listen here (or any of the usual podcast platforms) https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/kathleen-stock/id1501404785?i=1000528837964

Kathleen Stock talks about her recent book ‘Material Girls: Why Reality Matters for Feminism’ – why she wrote it, the reaction to it, the flack she receives arguing that biological s*x is important to acknowledge, and more.
If you are confused about the gender debate, her book and this interview, are good places to start untangling some of the complex issues involved.

Our first Spokes episode of 2021 features the American writer, historian and academic, Alice Dreger, who is author of the acclaimed book ‘Galileo’s Middle Finger’.

'Galileo’s Middle Finger' explores how truth can sometimes be twisted and silenced by activists, scientists and researchers in order to suit their own agendas. Since publication of the book Alice has faced threats and protests and has had to deal with a group of activists who stole and tried to destroy her online identity. In this episode Alice explains how her resignation from a U.S. university was linked to a bl***ob. She talks about her passion for rationality, evidence, truth and justice, and about the importance of local journalism. She also explains how she figured out way before most of the rest of the world that Covid 19 could be the ‘big one’.
