Had a lovely chat today with Lynette Fay about the reality of starting something new (don’t believe the hype you see on Instagram) and why women’s media is so important.

NEWSLETTER TIME: What's going on with cervical screening in Northern Ireland - and when it comes to Gaza, why is it so hard for some to say 'Ceasefire'?

It's been a tough week, so in this week's newsletter we also have a little Halloween relief to distract.

Hope you have a good Sunday and week ahead. x

Colm and Darragh lived and were killed along the same three-mile stretch of the A5 road in County Tyrone.

Their mothers spoke to She Matters about the impact of their deaths and what it’s like living beside one of Ireland's most notorious roads.

Privileged to host this conversation about alcoholism, endometriosis and depression… issues that impact so many women and need to be spoken about openly and honestly.

No better than Olivia McVeigh Moody Activewear and Serenity Ten to do that. To put it in Tyrone terminology, they are just class! And genuine and brave.

Sobs and laughter were audible as their relatable stories touched so many in the crowd.

Thank you Little Penny Thoughts for giving us the platform and for putting on another fantastic night.

Really delighted to be involved in this, look at that line-up!! Come along for the chats.

When it comes to motherhood and working-mum life, we swim in an ocean of unrealistic expectations.

From Instagram to Facebook, TikTok to TV, we are being sold a nonsense narrative about what a mum looks like in 2023.

So in our latest offering, She Matters looks at the damage the lie is doing to us - and we speak to wellness experts Mind Mommy Coaching and mirkerins_integratedwellness about what can help us navigate the reality.

We're being sold a nonsense narrative about motherhood in 2023 and it's hurting us. So She Matters spoke to Laura Guckian and Miriam Kerins Hussey for some expert advice on what can help us navigate the reality.

Some sentences are hard to say out loud - and to respond to.

"I had a miscarriage" is one of them.

But maybe if we spoke about it a little more, it would be easier for everyone.

"He didn't just come in and just stab her, it was a frenzied attack, she was brutally murdered."

Natalie McNally’s father Noel has given further details about her murder on December 18, including that she was battered, hit over the head with something and strangled before she was stabbed to death.

Mr McNally told the Sunday World he had struggled to identify his daughter’s body due to the extent of her injuries.

The person who did this to her is free to do as they please today.

If you have any information that might help police detain them, please come forward and give her devastated family that break.

Detectives have said all information will be treated with the strictest confidence and you can submit it using the QR code below.

Or you can call – dial 101 and ask for extension 21353, or call direct on 02890 700353

Were you in the Silverwood area in Lurgan on Sunday 18th December 2022 between 7pm and 11pm?

Do you have any information about Natalie McNally?

Did you see anyone carrying a rucksack or any vehicle that drew your attention or seemed out of place during this period?

If you were in the area do you have CCTV/Dashcam on your premises/vehicle?

Justice is the least her family deserves.

At 24, Olivia Mcveigh can’t remember the last time she wasn’t in pain. Crippling pain. Some days it’s hard to walk and she has to use a walking stick.

But like many other women with , one of the most challenging parts of her journey was not being believed when she told practitioners what she was going through.

As we look at how women experience gaslighting in addition to severe pain from endometriosis, She Matters can also reveal how some gynaecology waiting lists have trebled, making it increasingly difficult to get a diagnosis and treatment.

And we’re off!! To get things started, our founder Emma Murphy has written a piece about what inspired her to start this company, why women’s media is so important and how, at a time when she was really vulnerable, it changed her life.

Check it out at https://shematters.ie/why-womens-media-matters-new/ - and just to note, the article references sexual assault so if that’s something you are feeling vulnerable about, feel free to give it a skip or find resources at the bottom of the article.

And as always, we’d love a like, share or to read your comments if it’s something that connects with you ❤️
