Mother. One word, a myriad meanings…

To mother is not just to create life, it is to sustain life, to save life, to enrich life, to nurture life, to protect and shelter that life. It is complicated, eternal, instinctive and ancient.

Not all mothers are mothers and that statement works both ways.
Some mothers are unable to nurture the child they have for many heartbreaking reasons and some mothers would love nothing more than to have this child they so long for. So they walk through this life nurturing and sharing that motherly love with whomever needs it. They are mothers without children of their own. But mothers they very much are.

If you are a mother in the traditional sense today, be loved. You are someone’s whole world, what a thing.

If you are without your own mother today, be loved. Just as she spent her entire life hoping you would. She lived for your happiness, let her see it if you can.

If you are a mother without children today, be loved. You deserve this more than we know and we see your brave heart opening still to let in those who need.

If you are someone who chose to love another’s child today, be loved. This world exists more beautifully because of your selfless and boundless light.

If you have never known a mother’s love, be the start of it, make it anew. And show the world what it should look like. The legacy you leave will change history.

Find a way today, if you can, to celebrate ‘creation’.
To celebrate your existence, to celebrate love itself.

Mother, one word, a myriad meanings…
complicated, eternal, primal, and without us, there would be nothing.

Christmas Shopping, well great time to pop inot the Christmas Market in St. Peter's Cork and support the Cork Cancer Care Centre lots of different local small business and artists and crafters, meet them, support local and pick up some lovely gifts for others this weekend. Open on Saturday 10am-7pm & Sunday from 10am-6pm. Check it out tell your friends get charity raising much needed funds.

This book ‘loss’ is on sale today which makes me happy… because much like the messages we receive in the way the below poem describes, this book flies around the world constantly, spreading comfort and reminding its readers on the darkest of days that love never dies. And that the only tool we have to combat life and its losses, is more love.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

To ALL women…

Because all women have mothered someone at some point in their life, it’s just what we do.
We care, we nurture, we ‘mother’.

For the mothers who are knee deep in family life, this is your day to feel like a queen, please do. It’s entirely deserved and no one needs a day of pampering more. The chores can wait, be at rest.

For the mothers who have lost children, this day is another on your ‘harder’ calendar, and for that I send you love, you are so very brave, every day.

To the women who no longer have their mother, this day is a heart-breaking reminder of an overwhelming grief. Your mother would want this day to be a time to say her sayings, cook her favourite meal and play her favourite songs. So, please don’t avoid that today. I know it hurts, but it will help the heal.

To the women who have not made it into motherhood, who so desperately want to. This day is tough, there is nothing you want more than a 3am wake up and a hand-drawn card full of love.
Please take today to acknowledge all the hard work and energy you have put into your endeavours. I see the hole in your heart. I see you and I want you to know you're a warrior of love and you deserve so much joy in life. Please let it in.

To the women who mother another child, you are a glorious example of humanity and love, my heart fills to bursting just to witness the gift you give. Thank you.

To the women who feel they have not had that maternal love they so crave, please be the ‘new’. You need to make much love, so that the future outweighs the past. It starts with you. You deserve it, create it. It will fill you.

You are magical♥️

KNOW YOURSELF

Know yourself they say
and don’t be led astray
but how can I know who I am
when I’m different every day?

Some days I’m the smart one
with the answers people need
and some days I’m the strong one
standing up to take the lead.

On other days I’m sure
that if the wind blew me too hard
I would shatter like a glass
into a million tiny shards.

And on those days I cower
and I hide out from the world
waiting on my inner child
to blossom and unfurl.

And each day I’m surprised
by the newness that I see
the things I’m finding out
the complexity of me.

So how to know yourself
when you’re all things rolled in one?
you simply must decide
to love whatever you become.
