Lovely wee email to come back to, with high praise from Colin Stafford-Johnson himself.

"Hi Lee,

I hope you are keeping well!

I have some good news for you. You were selected as the overall winner of our photography competition and also the winner of the Midlands & East region for your picture of the aerial shot of Lough Ree.

Congratulations, our judge Colin Stafford-Johnson who is an award-winning Cameraman, Director and Broadcaster said the following about your photo, “Very strong composition. Great contrast to show a wonderful and unique view of the aquatic plants against the dark water. And the oars just stroking the water. I want to be in that boat.

We hope to have a press release out over the coming week or so and I will be in touch in a couple of weeks regarding your prize.

I will be in touch in a couple of weeks Lee and well done again!

Kind regards,

Sometimes it's just best to be polite.

An actual phone call from yesterday, I get at least three of these daily:

Unknown caller: "How much for photos?"
Me: "What's your brief and budget for the project?"
Unknown caller: "How should I know, you're the expert!"
Me: "It's impossible for me to quote without knowing what I'm quoting for."
Still unknown caller: "I just want a quote though, and make it cheap!"
Me: "If you could send an email with your brief, I'll revert back to you immediately with an estimate."

That email will never come, and really it's a bullet dodged.

That's a wrap for the kids filmmaking workshops at St. Ciarans National School.

Massive thanks to the local constabulary An Garda Síochána Laois Offaly, for helping out in our action scene yesterday.

The Mini Motion Pictures student flim crew were fantastic and a huge credit to the team at St. Ciarans.

Exercise caution in the local water today

**PSA Caution**

Residents of the Ballyleague area are urged to exercise caution as recent sightings indicate the presence of an extremely large unidentified creature in Lough Ree.

Authorities advise against approaching the creature and recommend staying vigilant, especially near large bodies of water.

Please prioritise safety and report any sightings or unusual behavior to local authorities immediately.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing situation.

That's more like it. :) 🌳🌲

Our new rating stands at a commendable 92 percent, indicating solid progress with areas for improvement identified. With recently provided guidance, we effectively mapped out strategies to enhance our performance.

Specifically, we developed a comprehensive plan for monitoring output and accurately measuring water and energy consumption. This proactive approach not only ensures better resource management but also promises tangible cost savings.

Handy wee tool.

It's a good honest rating with work to be done, and with the guidance I just received we should easily improve on that score.

I pretty much just need to have a better plan in place for monitoring output, measuring the usage of the water and energy.

Should help save a few pennies too.

Whether it’s a historical figure, friend, mentor or even yourself - who do you celebrate this ?

Today I choose to celebrate Hedy Lamarr, an Austrian-American actress and inventor who pioneered the technology that would one day form the basis for today's WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth communication systems.

Lamarr shared her concept for using “frequency hopping” with the U.S. Navy and co-developed a patent with Antheil 1941. Today, her innovation helped make possible a wide range of wireless communications technologies, including Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

Remember that time is your most precious commodity, philanthropic or otherwise.

I'm a committed family man and community member so I understand the delicate balance of allocating my time wisely. With a young family and business to nurture, every moment counts.

I've chosen to dedicate my time to serving community groups and charities that align with my own values. Balancing the needs of my family, my business, and my community involvement requires thoughtful organisation and prioritisation. These endeavours require attention and dedication in order to thrive in a highly competitive landscape.

By selectively choosing the organisations and causes I support, I can make the most significant impact without spreading myself too thin. It's so crucial to recognise when certain commitments may not serve the greater good or align with your time constraints.

If I decline an invitation to join a new group, it's not a decision made lightly. I assure you that I have given it thoughtful consideration, weighing it against my existing commitments and the overall impact I can make.

I have increasingly had good friends saying lately that they were feeling bad for having to step away or being pressured to take on more.

This post is for you.

Look after yourself, you can't be everywhere.

Have a great weekend. :)
