In Profile - Bishop Emeritus Willie Walsh
This week, in light of the sad passing of the Bishop Emeritus of Killaloe, Willie Walsh last Wednesday at the age of 90, we have decided to offer another opportunity to hear Alan Morrissey's In Profile conversation with Willie.
Alan sat down with Willie in May 2023 to hear his fascinating story. They spoke about how he became a priest and his 16-year tenure as Bishop of Killaloe, as well as touching on his time as both a student and teacher at St Flannan’s College.
Being from Tipperary, Willie was passionate about hurling, and he recalled his success leading both St Flannan’s and Éire Óg to silverware, along with his role as a selector with Clare.
May he rest in peace
The CEO of Iarnród Éireann says it's a "reality" that more and more Clare people will embrace public transport in the coming years.
Cooraclare native Jim Meade has predicted the Crusheen rail stop will reopen "in the medium term" while confirming the Shannon Airport rail link is now "part of a plan".
In Profile - Vincent Power
This week’s guest for In Profile is Vincent Power. Vincent had an incredible career as a journalist, spending almost thirty years with the Irish Examiner and Evening Echo in Cork.
Vincent was the only journalist in the world to get an exclusive interview with Michael Jackson on his ‘Bad’ tour in 1988.
He has also written two books, including Send ‘Em Home Sweatin’, the story of the showbands and ballrooms during the 1960s.
Earlier on Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined in-studio by Clonlara's musician, Arren ahead of his debut headline show at Little Whelan’s in Dublin on the 19th of February.
In Profile - Michael Donnellan
This week’s guest for In Profile is Michael Donnellan. Michael is considered as one of the greatest Irish dancers ever. At the age of five, the Clare native got his first dancing shoes and joined in Ennis the Scoil Rince Ui Ruairc school of Irish dancing. From that point, he never looked back, winning Munster and various all Ireland Championship titles. The icing on the cake were two World Championship titles.
