I'll also be including several classic Christmas songs, such as Ella Fitzgerald's version of "Silent Night", followed by Stevie Nicks's version, both of which are beautiful and brilliant, along with Annie Lennox's great version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", Greg Lake with "I Believe In Father Christmas" and Eric Clapton's gorgeous version of "Away In a Manger". On Phoenix Blues tonight, at 10pm, on 92.5 Phoenix FM, the show is a repeat of one from a few months ago. I'll have music by BB King, Tracy Chapman and Ella Fitzgerald. I'll also be featuring Ida Cox, with her brilliant song "Wild Women Don't Have the Blues", which was one of the first feminist songs, and music by Albert King, along with several songs by the Black Crowes, including their beautiful song "She Talks to Angels", a bit different from the usual blues, and their cover of the blues song "Shake Your Money Maker" featuring Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. Join me on Phoenix Blues tonight if you can, at 10pm, on 92.5 Phoenix FM. I'm paying tribute to Duane Allman, lead guitarist and founder of the Allman Brothers Band, who died 53 years ago today. I'll be featuring the band's version of Blind Willie McTell's song "Statesboro Blues", along with their version of the Muddy Waters blues standard "Hoochie Coochie Man". Also coming up on tonight's tribute are Derek & the Dominos with their classic "Layla", featuring Allman on slide guitar, and songs by Allman's early band, Hour Glass, including their song "Now Is the Time". I'll be playing his song "Singing the Blues" and his version of the blues standard "Goin' Down Slow", along with some of Cole's other blues songs, such as his brilliant cover of the Bobby Bland song "This Time I'm Gone For Good".
