//WINNER//

Delighted to have Community Watch selected in the Top 50 of global Short Films in the Promofest Summer selection.

We're in the company of some other whopper Irish shorts from Tristan Heanue and Mia Mullarkey also.

Promofest is a unique prize in that as a winner the film will now be distributed to 50 Film Festivals which is an absolute godsend for a self-financed wee short like ours because festival submission costs can total into the hundreds and thousands once a film has finished its run.

Don't forget, our film 'Community Watch' is screening in person (this weekend) and online (now) as part of ODEON Shorts 1

And Paudie's short screenplay 'Peat' is in competition for Best Screenplay. Good luck to Stephen and the Waterford Film Fest team, and to all the participants.

This year the festival is presenting 170+ short films online all week and 34 films will be presented this Saturday (26th November) and Sunday (27th November) in the ODEON Cinema, Waterford.

This will be a fantastic mix of new Irish and International short films.

Films come from across the world and are a blend of fiction and documentaries from award-winning and debut filmmakers.

There are lots of different genres and themes for festival-goers to enjoy including; animation, drama, comedy, thriller, action, scifi, human interest, environment, culture, LGBT and many more...

We are showing 12 screenings online which include Irish shorts, International shorts and U.K. films.

We are also screening a category called 'Waterford Connection' which is a collection of short films with a Waterford Connection.

These shorts were either filmed in Waterford and/or the main players involved in the production are from Waterford (filmmakers, lead cast etc).

For those who can not make it to the Odeon Cinema this weekend - films are also available online.

There is a great wealth of talent to be viewed both online and in the cinema this week!!

Whether you join us online or in person, we hope you enjoy the films!!!

To register for online screenings please go to: https://wiff.uscreen.io/

Each programme online is €6.50 or get a 'Full Access Pass' to all films for €7.50

Tickets to the ODEON cinema screenings can only be purchased online.

There are three screenings in the cinema and each screening has between 10-12 short films and runs for a duration of about 100 minutes each.

The programmes in the Cinema are called Odeon Shorts 1, 2 and 3.

To book tickets for the cinema please go to: https://www.ticketfairy.com/events/waterford-international-film-festival

//SCREENING //

Filmmaker and EPM collaborator Aoise Tutty Jackson will screen some recent work on Thursday 13th October at 7pm in Uillinn, West Cork Arts Centre.

"Three of my short films made in collaboration with Music Alive and Skibbereen's pioneering mental health service, 49 North Street will be shown. The importance of 'listening' rose to the forefront as I journeyed through making these films.

I will be inviting the audience into an experiential space where you will be invited to explore some of the practices which were integral to the making of these films and am excited to welcome Nóirín Ní Riain and Nick Murphy who were participants in 'Listen' to join me as we dive into this subject more. More about the event and ticket details can be found at:

https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/listening-film-screenings-tickets-404532626977

On Saturday 15th October a second event will be happening in Myross Wood House in Leap at 5pm and will showcase one of my most recent films 'Anua' alongside an exhibition of photographs which marked the beginning or 'threshold' of this project coming to life.

This will be the first large-scale exhibition of this kind of my photographic work and I'm really excited to showcase it as part of this immersive event which will also be infused with music, poetry, discussion, yummy nibbles and more. More info and ticket details can be found here;

I'd be delighted to see you there. - Aoise"

This was a very special and singular project to be part of, and we feel privileged to have been involved.
Please come see 'Echo’s Bones' on 8th & 9th October at The Light House Cinema, Smithfield, Dublin 7, including Q&A
/
This is a sensory friendly screening – full accessibility and booking info at the link in bio
/
Echo’s Bones is a collaborative film-making project with autistic young people in North County Dublin, taking its title from an unpublished short story by Samuel Beckett set in the area. Borrowing from a Beckett sensibility, autism is not the topic of the film but a way of sensing the world and speculating about a shared future.

ID: A film poster showing a photograph of three young women, each dressed completely in a single colour (yellow, baby blue, pink). They sit on rocks by the sea and gaze out to the horizon. An old Victorian institution is in the distant background. The image is tinted in purple from the horizon that the young women are looking towards, and the title ‘Echo’s Bones’ appears as if etched in chalk

// ANNOUNCEMENT //
FOCAIL BAILE CROÍ: is at once a cinematic love letter to the Irish language and a reimagining of grief as a privilege of love, told from the vantage point of a father writing a letter to his unborn son.
We are delighted to announce we have secured funding for our third Irish Language short film, this time collaborating with filmmaker Katie McNeice. We will be shooting in Kerry later this year. Y’up The Kingdom.
Winner | Best Pitch, Comortas Fisín Film Bursary (2020)
Winner | Best Script, Catalyst Film Festival (2021)
Winner | Best Pitch, Kerry Short Film Bursary (2022)

Jury Statement - Catalyst
“This is a beautiful meditation on language, heritage, loss and love, a moving love letter from a father to his unborn son. The script takes the idea of communication and tradition and brings it into the 21st century. It’s an original and simple idea and all the more powerful for that. This mature, well-crafted, lyrical script has great potential to travel well as a festival film. Its visual ambition is admirable as well as its sense of tone and rhythm. Congratulations Katie!”
