Paulette Moran a beautiful soul, rest in peace.
It’s with a heavy heart today we write our tribute to a true friend, lady and simply a beautiful human being.
The untimely death of Paulette Moran has been met with huge shock and sadness within the entire Travelbiz team and throughout the travel industry today. Paulette was well known to us all as the ever-smiling face that greeted us at Holiday World countrywide every January. Armed with her clipboard, Paulette was a stalwart of Business Exhibitions and ran the show with efficiency, diplomacy and friendliness.
Paulette spent over 30 years working alongside Maureen Ledwith and Edmund Hourican at Business Exhibitions Ltd., and latterly with Maria and Shane Hourican. Speaking fondly of Paulette, Maria states: “We are profoundly saddened by the passing of Paulette. Paulette was more than a colleague; she was a true friend. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
As Paulette was involved with many aspects of the business, she was relied upon to bring an enormous degree of professionalism to her work and her expertise shone through in every task she undertook. Perhaps though Paulette will be best remembered for her winning smile, her bubbly personality and her immense sense of fun.
It’s very difficult to assimilate this terrible news and we can only offer our sincere condolences to Paulette’s family who must surely be suffering and now have an enormous loss to bear.
Paulette, you were indeed a beautiful soul and an absolute lady – right down to your super-efficient fingertips.
May your gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

On the occasion of the Belgian National Day H.E. Mrs Karen Van Vlierberge Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Ireland hosted a Garden Reception at the Belgian Residence on Ailesbury Road, Dublin.
Travelbiz Features Editor Declan Mescall attended as did many members of international Diplomatic Corps. Both the ambassador and the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr James Geoghan, spoke of the strong links between Belgium and Ireland. Traditional Belgian fare of frites, cheese cubes with mustard, beer, wine and Belgian chocolates were served. The weather was fabulous, the garden was beautiful, it was a very enjoyable event

Congratulations Moya McCrossan. (Atlantic Travel)

This week marks the end of a stellar travel industry career for one of our Donegal Favourites, Moya McCrossan, who began her career in the Travel Industry around the same time as me, when we were both teenagers 😊
Moya leaves Emma and the team in Atlantic Travel after 34 years of absolute dedication to the business and our much-loved Industry. She started in Atlantic Travel the day it opened in Jan 1992 and managed it until 2010, where she then took up the role of part time finance administrator until now.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Moya throughout her career and shared many a travel industry evening or two at home and abroad which I shall always treasure and include in my Travel industry memoirs, which is destined to be a best seller 😊
On behalf of all the Travelbiz Crew, our valued readers, subscribers and trade partners at home and abroad, I wish you the very best and look forward to turning the page of your all-new chapter, providing I am featured in some shape or form. You will be missed and have no doubt I shall see you on sun kissed shores again very soon 😊

Chris sent this message to all trade partners.
Today marks my final day as President and CEO of Brand USA, and I am filled with immense gratitude, humility and pride. Leading our nation’s destination marketing organization over the last 12 years has been my most challenging, exciting and fulfilling professional experience and the honour of a lifetime.
I have travelled the country and the world and been inspired by hundreds of the most committed, creative, innovative and seasoned colleagues, many of whom I now call friends. I can think of no better capstone to my 41 years in the travel business — and indeed my entire working life — than my decade-plus of service to our great nation.
My heartfelt thanks go out to all past and present boards of directors, stakeholders, partners, colleagues and friends who have supported and believed in our mission. Your passion and dedication have been the driving force behind our collective successes.

Another night to remember from Travelmedia at their annual summer soiree in Dublin’s iconic Shelbourne Hotel on July 11th saw the great and the good from the Irish travel industry converge to hear some super speakers and updates on exciting news emanating from the US.

Michael Clausen, Deputy Chief of Mission US Embassy, opened proceedings and stepped in for Her Excellency Clare D Cronin who was indisposed at the last moment. He apprised us of the astonishing fact that Ireland really does punch above its weight in terms of visitor numbers to the USA. We are Number 1 and we genuinely love our American cousins!

Edel Redmond (Head of Airline & Partner Marketing Dublin Airport) and Maja Gedosev (General Manager Europe JetBlue) assured us that transatlantic skies are open, busy and functioning; Joe Rotterdam (Director of Air Service Pittsburgh International Airport) wants to welcome us immediately and Jeffrey Vasser (Executive Director New Jersey) and Greg Evans (Director New Jersey) reminded us of the amazing facilities in the State. Grant Daley (Senior Business Development Manager Universal Studios) showed a video of upcoming marvels in Celeste Park, part of Universal Epic Universe. Jackie Ennis (Vice President Global Trade Development) thanked everyone for their loyalty and ongoing support of The Brand USA and she expressed her delight at being back in Ireland.

The salubrious surrounds of the Shelbourne Hotel with delicious food, wine and incredible energy in the grandest of rooms brought industry heads together in a truly enjoyable celebration. Grateful thanks to Michael and his team for a night to remember.
