Most businesses model their ads on ineffective ads, modelled on more ineffective ads.
It's like a game of Chinese whispers.
In the beginning someone made an effective ad that raked in clients.
So people decided to copy it with their own unique twist.
And this went on and on until not even ONE part of the effective ad remained.
This leaves them worse off than the person they were trying to copy.
Remember when you were in school and someone would copy your piece of homework (or maybe it was the other way around!).
Either way, the person who copied would never get a better grade than the original work.
Now, this is exactly what’s happening with advertising except the copying has been done 1000s or even 10000s of times since the original ad was published.
So how do you break the cycle and make your advertising actually get you clients?
Find successful ads, figure out what makes them successful, and model yours after them.
I know what you’re going to say;
“But this is still copying, this won’t help me beat my competitors!”
And there, my friend, is where you are mistaken.
Because you're not just going to copy and start the cycle all over again.
You are actually going to learn why certain things work and others don’t.
And this is going to give you the ability to adapt your ads and increase their effectiveness.
