In 1911 the School of Printing, which was originally located in Chatham Row, moved to its current location on Bolton Street. Since then the School has become a National Centre of Excellence for print media education in Ireland. The School has gone through some name changes over the last 100 years, reflecting trends in both terminology and technology. Now called the Department of Print & Digital Me
dia, over the years we have developed many programmes from certificate to masters level. We have always maintained a strong focus on industry development needs with both our previous range of part-time programmes and now with our suite of continuing professional development modules, which have been created in conjunction with the Design, Print and Packaging Industry Skillnets. With the range of programmes we have delivered we have had thousands of apprentices and students, both Irish and international, come through our doors. To recognise this and to mark the occasion of our 100 years of Printing at DIT we will host a series of events in 2011. These include high profile guest lectures, exhibitions, a golf classic at the K Club in March and a Barbeque in June. These will be occasions where past pupils will have the opportunity to catch up with classmates as well as our Staff both current and previous. We will advertise these events in conjunction with the Irish Printer Magazine. We hope that you will take this opportunity to participate in the above events.
