How we made the 🎹

“I have no friends left”.

(8) Be The Sky

Be still, I heard, Breathe in and let go. But I was a hurricane in boots.
Restlessness and mind riots, chasing meaning through wreckage.

And then the refrain
“Be the sky.”

And I laughed. Because who wants to be something
So vast and indifferent, it forgets the names of stars

But then I watched it. Witnessed it. And I recognised myself.

Because the sky…it doesn’t cling to the clouds. It lets them pass.
Storms rip through it—fists of thunder, tears of rain—
And still it stays. Unbroken. Unmoved.

That’s not peace. That’s resolve
That’s not silence. That’s endurance.

See, I spent years mistaking my thoughts for truths,
my regrets for doctrine, my pain for proof.
Dragging shame like it was stitched into my skin.
But thoughts…they’re not commands. They’re weather.

And weather changes.

Some days, I move like I’ve forgotten how to begin— every step unsure, like the ground might give in, Other days, I’m all Iron and purpose, A drowning soul that breaks the surface

But none of it lingers. And that’s the point.

The detours, the setbacks,
Those spiral-shaped days where you end up back where you started—
That’s not failing.
That’s just the route.
Not all journeys follow straight lines.
Not all healing is linear.
This is the scribble of becoming.

This is path towards the place that has never been wounded.

And I’ll tell you something brutal—
I didn’t find it by fighting the noise.
I didn’t get there by bulldozing pain with positivity.
I found it by watching, untethering, not measuring with judgment,
Letting the mind do its chaos dance
While I politely declined the invitation to join in.

Let the thoughts come.
Let them shout.
Let them paint the sky with every shade of “not enough.”
And then let them go.
Because you—
You’re not what they say.

You are not the panic.
Not the echo of old guilt.
Not the future ghost you’re afraid of becoming.

You are the space they pass through.
The sky that holds the storm without collapsing under it.
The quiet that remains when the shouting fades.

So next time the dark comes rolling in,
don’t run.
Don’t clutch.
Don’t curse the clouds for showing up.

Stand.
Lift your chin.
And be the sky.

Finally holding the record in our hands and paws is quite the feeling. My manager has believed in this alb&m from day 1 . She would sit in my studio and act as my A & R girl. She knows a good emotive piano motif. God knows I was hard to manage . And fair play. She didn’t take her 20% commission. She was compensated with and long windy walks on the beach.
But, many others believed in it too. None more than Mum, .

I really can’t wait for you all to hear it.
Thanks for the ❤️ over last few months .

And of course and .cullen .

And of course the world class .

🎵 The Place That’s Never Been Wounded — Out Next Friday

I know this place is often where we share highlights. The wins and the polished versions of our work.
And I love that. But in the creative industry (like in any job), there’s another side too.
A few years ago, within a month, I was dropped by my record label, publisher, and podcast platform.
It was chaos. My sense of identity, which had become completely tied up in my work, was flattened.
I’ve always understood that rejection is part of the game. But this time felt particularly brutal. It came right after COVID, when our entire industry had already been shaken to its core. I told myself I’d never put anything out again. I didn’t want to open myself up to that kind of hit.
But with time and space, I let the rejection do what it needed to do. It hurt. And then, slowly, it softened.
One day, I sat back down at the piano and decided I wanted to tell this story —the story of the part of us that remains steady when the world shakes. The part that always helps us find our way through.
That project became The Place That’s Never Been Wounded.
And next Friday, it’s finally being released into the world.
It’s nerve-wracking. It’s exciting. And it’s something I’m deeply proud of, not because it’s perfect, but because it came from rejection, fear, and, ultimately, healing.
If any of this connects with you, and you’d like to support the work, the best way you can do that is by pre-ordering the record.
It genuinely makes a huge difference in helping me cover the costs of creating and releasing the album.

It’s also such an honour to work with creatives from my hometown, Mullingar. Often we have this tendency to believe we need to go far , or somewhere else to find people to work with in that regard. Im lucky I grew up with them .cullen . Top class talent.
And to my label . Such a difference working with people who don’t look at metrics and followers first, but the quality of the music . Nice one .

The marriage of music and mindfulness was so important for me during the chaos years.

So much creativity can come from a place of insecurity.
The idea of facing into a project with that slight uneasiness, and unsteadiness often yields the best results.
That is what this record is for me. It was born out of that place. I watched artists like and felt intimidated by their ability to do what they do.
But I am so happy I took that chance.
said “the audience comes last” . He didn’t mean that as a mark of disrespect to those that allow artists make music. He meant it has to be for the artist first. Then the audience feels drawn to it.
That is what this record was for me.
