Behind me is a 9 floors residential project we recently completed in Dublin, Ireland.

It was a great experience representing AECOM in providing Cost Management Solutions and working alongside one of Ireland’s top contractors, Walls Construction. The collaboration, teamwork, and shared commitment to excellence made this project a success.

8:40am – Reached office
9:00am – First coffee
9:15am – Reviewed to-do list
10:00am – Contractor meeting on post-tender site work
11:00am – Short 5min break
12:00pm – Completed a few pre-tender project tasks
1:00pm – Lunch break
1:30pm – Short walk beside the canal
2:00pm – Back to work
2:10pm – Worked on digital QS initiatives and related tasks
4:00pm – Prepared documents and checklist for upcoming site visit
4:30pm – Short tea break & 5 min social media scroll
5:30pm – Left office
7:30pm – Back home

Working from home – one of the advantages of being a QS in a hybrid role.

Growth and learning matter far more than rewards. It’s who we become on the journey that truly matters.

Wishing everyone a positive and productive week ahead! ✨

Visiting a construction site today reminds me of last year, when I was working on the same project at the pre-tender stage, preparing the cost plan and working on the 3D model.

Seeing it now under construction is truly rewarding and fulfilling as a Quantity Surveyor.

Which stage of a project do you prefer working in more: pre-tender or post-tender?

You don’t have to know everything. You only need to know enough. Start with what you know, and work your way backward.

I used to stammer and for a long time it destroyed my confidence. It stopped me from expressing myself and some people even laughed when I mispronounced words.

But with time, things changed. Today many people know me for my trainings videos, presentations, Podcast, YouTube tutorials and self-development content — all of which are about speaking.

Do I still stammer? Yes, sometimes. But I no longer let it control me. I don’t care if it happens, because I know what it feels like and I know how far I’ve come.

To anyone struggling right now with speech, fear, or any other challenge, remember this: you can make it. It takes time, but you can still do it. People often see who you are today, but they don’t always see the journey behind it.

You don’t have to be perfect — and that’s the real beauty.

Happy Friday ✨

In 2014, I came to Dubai on a visit visa. Everything was new—I had no idea about LinkedIn or job-hunting platforms. I applied for every possible job, but failed many times.

Eventually, I managed to land my first job in Dubai. Not because I had a clear strategy, but simply because I was lucky. Over time, I realized there are lessons every job seeker should know:

1️⃣ Companies don’t hire out of charity
They don’t give jobs just because someone is in need. They hire because they need someone skilled. So the real question is: when we approach a hiring manager, are we showing how our skills align with their requirements, or just saying we need a job?

2️⃣ Skills come first
If you’re not skilled today, nothing will change in six months or six years. No one is coming to save you. Start learning, invest in yourself, and be ready when opportunities come.

3️⃣ LinkedIn matters
It plays a vital role for professionals, yet many don’t know how to approach people, find jobs, or build a strong profile. I’ve recorded a detailed video on LinkedIn strategy—drop a comment if you’d like the link.

4️⃣ Freshers can get hired
There’s a common belief that only experienced people get jobs. That’s not true—everyone was once a fresher. The mistake many young professionals make is applying for senior roles that don’t fit their profile. I also have a detailed video on resume building and interview preparation—let me know if you’d like the link.

✨ To everyone still searching: stay positive, keep learning, remain consistent. Your time will come.
