Meet Rabiyaa, a young coffee worker I met near Limu Genet when I was filming for fairchain.org in SW Ethiopia. Such an amazing place, the coffee grown here is among the best on the planet, hand picked, organic, sustainable and the farmers & workers get paid 20% above the norm. The washing station is a fascinating operation, gravity powered being built into the side of a hill. After the coffee cherries are sorted, they’re de-pulped and washed for 24 hours, then dried in the shade for almost two weeks before being transported to Addis Ababa where it’s roasted and distributed around the world. Week 11 on The Young Offenders, with extraordinary talent in front of the camera in Hilary Rose, Alex Murphy and Chris Walley, as well director Peter Foott. Have been having a good ol' chuckle in the cutting room. Feet up till the 2nd and then 4 more weeks of belly laughs and cursing :)

A piece of work I've been involved in for the last month is airing tonight on TV3. "Killer in the Family" is a sensitive portrayal of the surviving family members after loss due to Filicide/Familicide.

I'm on the home straight of the project I'm currently editing in TV3. It's a documentary about filicide/patricide in Ireland. It features four remarkable people, survivors, those left behind. All incredibly strong, telling their stories.

Killer in the Family airs next Thursday (Sept 7th) at 9pm TV3.

Beautifully shot by Piaras Mac Cionnaith and Andrew Cummins, associate director Conor Morrissey, produced by Conor Tiernan, assisted by Liam Kelly.
