In the realm of a federation where board members are not elected by its members and where important sports organizations such as Minister of Sport, Sport Ireland, the European Handball Federation, and the International Handball Federation have decided to step aside and let Olympic Handball Ireland do what they want, as has been demonstrated for the last 7 years, it is crucial to address the ongoing issues once again.
It has been over a month since the public announcement of the illegalities that have occurred throughout these years. However, no one from the board has publicly stepped down or announcing clearly the re-election of the positions.
Why does it take so long to resign when found in such an illegal situation? What is the strategy behind delaying the announcement of re-elections, which is not even on the agenda of the so-called meeting that will happen "soon"?
The medal ceremony for this season's club winners will take place tomorrow at 7 PM in Dublin at the Bernard Shaw Pub. The ceremony will honour 4 men's teams and 5 women's teams that have competed in the Senior League. Was organizing this ceremony more important than addressing the legal issues within the federation?
As the European Handball Federation says, "Dare to Rise," and to make it a reality, "Dare to Talk, Get Involved, and Ask for Your Rights!"
It's time to stand up and make Olympic Handball Ireland a true community federation!
