It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in Mud Island Community Garden. Our Christmas special includes entertainment from St Columba's NS choir, the SeaSharps Barbershop Quartet, the Dublin Concert Band, Joya and Priya Hobson, MaSamba Samba School, Tony Norton and Passion with the wonderful Oleg Ponomarev, and the Artane Senior Band! There will be even be a visit from Santa with a very special present for the garden.... Enjoy and a very Merry Christmas to all... :-) Dublin City Council North East Inner City - Dublin GTM Events

We've such an action packed programme for tonight! We're looking forward to some seasonal tunes from The Sea Sharps Barbershop Quartet as well as from the children's choir from our 'school around the corner' St.Columba's National School, recorded live from Mud Island Community Garden's ! They'll be joined by the Dublin Concert Band; MaSamba Samba School and Artane Senior Band popping up around the North East Inner City - Dublin and our will be hosting the wonderful group Passion, and the Norton Twins, Joya and Priya! Streaming tonight Sun 20th Dec from 7pm for approx. 1.5 hours - join us!

Excitement is mounting for Mud Island Community Garden's Christmas extravaganza streaming here tonight, Sun 20th Dec, from 7 pm - expect some Mud Island favourites as as well as some surprises. Dublin Concert Band, MaSamba Samba School and Artane Senior Band will be popping up around the North East Inner City - Dublin and our will be hosting the wonderful group Passion featuring Tony Norton and Oleg A Ponomarev, to name but a few!

Last weekend was a busy one for Mud Island Community Garden - we were delighted to be able to facilitate our neighbours Five Lamps Arts Festival filming a dance, music and art event in the garden for with Go Dance For Change and Moinho Music - tune into Five Lamps Arts Festival's Facebook or YouTube channel at 7 pm tonight to see what they made!

Here's some shots taken behind the scenes to show the extents we went to keeping the sun out of the eyes of (most of) Dublin Concert Band on Day 2; our repurposed compost area - aka sound studio - which was back in action as a compost area today; and those remote controlled cameras! - with support from Dublin City Council - North Inner City; North East Inner City - Dublin and GTM Events

Don't know about you but we're getting excited to share Day Two of with you - tonight Mon 28th Sept from 7.45 pm on Mud Island Community Gardens YouTube channel and from 8 pm here on Facebook. A huge amount of work went into organising the festival, from the team at Mud Island, to all the performers (many of whom hadn't played together for ages), Brian Mongey from the local Dublin City Council - North Inner City office, Colin and Graham from GTM Events, our two amazing sound guys P & L, Cloud Cafe who kept everyone fed, and not forgetting MudIslander John Hannigan who manned the gates throughout the shoot to make sure everyone was COVID-19 compliant. Here's another taste of that great single from John Cummins Poetician, Fin Divilly Music and Shakalak, filmed around our neck of the woods, who will be our last act this evening - enjoy! Also looking forward to hearing the Dublin Concert Band; Wally Page & Johnny Mulhern; Dav McNamara - Music and !

Good news - Day 2 experienced technical difficulties last night but it's now safely uploaded and ready to premiere TONIGHT Monday 28th Sept at 8 pm here on our page. And what a great line-up! Join in for two hours+ of an eclectic mix of big band music with Dublin Concert Band, jazz with the wonderful Dav McNamara - Music, Wally Page and Johnny Mulhern who play an eclectic mix of 'country, calypso, eastern, rock and roots', the wonderful Spanish singer songwriter ...and Shakalak! It'll also be up on Mud Island Community Garden's very own YouTube channel (set to start at the slightly earlier time of 7.45 pm). Folks as we've been experiencing unforseen technical difficulties, and as it's so late now, we've decided to add to your suspense and put off the premiere of Day Two until tomorrow night Mon 28th Sept at 8 pm. Sure what else would you be doing on a Monday night!! A huge shout out to Colin and Graham at GTM Events who have been working all hours, way beyond the call of duty, to bring to our screens. Next time we'll give them more time... Go to bed and we hope to see everyone back here tomorrow night - it will be worth it!! The one complaint we had about Day One of was that at 1.5 hours long it was too short. So, the good news about Day Two is that it's got more acts and is at least an hour longer!!
The bad news is that twice as long means longer to edit, render, encode and upload, a big ask for one day....but we're slowly getting there folks - go to bed if you must, it'll be here for you tomorrow, but we're staying up, we're too excited and can't wait to see it! Our jazz singer tonight Dav McNamara - Music almost represented Ireland in Eurovision in 1996 and going by the comments it should have been her! She's a wonderful jazz singer and her set tonight will open with the classic number 'Autumn Leaves' but for now, we're missing !
