Repair work still not booked!
A section of the Drogheda Library still remains cordoned off due to water damage to the ceiling but Louth County Council does not have the funds yet for a proper repair job.

Since last year the damage has been on view.
Louth County Council told the Drogheda Leader in March of this year, “Louth County Council are aware of ongoing roofing issues with Drogheda Library and have been repairing as they occur, with a view to proper restoration when funds become available. Louth County Council wish to apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

Drogheda’s donation of humanitarian aid to Turkey is making main TV news in Turkey.
On June 26th 1847, a ship ‘Pontaloon’ arrived from Enez Port, Istanbul in Drogheda carrying 1.784 quarter ton sacks of Indian corn, which it consigned to the leaders of the Drogheda Famine Relief Committee, Thomas and Frank Chadwick. The people of the town never forgot the food or the kindness.
This week, Drogheda United and Drogheda Slane Credit Union Union have massive fund raising campaigns underway.
These fundraisers have been on the TV news channels in Turkey and the newspapers there.

Tomorrow, there will be fundraising collections in the town and in the Credit Unions. People are asked to donate as generously as they may.

The Lú Festival continues
The Northern Cross Route PANCR road is underway at The Twenties Lane north of Moneymore, Drogheda. The official sod turning has not happened yet but the road has started is expected to be open next year and it unlocks landlocked fields where 5,000 unbuilt homes have full planning permission and the builders are waiting for the road to connect to them. This week in the Drogheda Leader newspaper we reveal the latest big home builder to enter the Drogheda market is Dwellings .ie who have a site for 200 homes directly north after Termon Abbey on the Termonfeckin Rd. They have just applied for permission for 97 new homes on the site.

The Pride parade in Drogheda today 🌈 attracted a large crowd on West Street.
Changes in Laytown
Work continuing this morning on knocking down the old Scoil an Spioriad Naoimh senior primary school building in Laytown.
There are a lot of memories there for the many locals who passed through its doors over the years.
The students are now in temporary accommodation on the nearby Tara Road as they await the building of a new school on the old site.
The was a major fire at the shops at Bettystown Square last night. Pat’s Centra was extensively damaged in the blaze and fire crews were still in attendance on Monday. This will be a huge loss to the community, hard working and community focused owners and David the manager is well-known for his efforts fundraising for Ukraine. People online hoping they will come back and start this community shop again that so many have fond thoughts for and memories of.
