There was tension between Irish and English fans on the streets of Dublin before and after yesterday's National League game.
Inside the Aviva Irish fans booed the English national anthem and English fans chanted "no surrender."
Lee Carsley the interim England manager stood by his vow to remain silent during the national anthem. As a result he was branded an 'embarrassment' on social media.
Carsley born in Birmingham played for the Republic of Ireland 40 times at senior international level.

Irish Family’s ‘Insular And Bigoted’ Portrayal In SPHE Book Branded ‘Insidious’
The government have been left red faced after a publisher has had to withdraw a junior cycle SPHE (Social, Personal, Health Education,) course book.
In an exercise showing two families, one family is a ‘stereotypically Irish family’ that doesn’t interact with anyone or anything not from Ireland. The illustration shows them wearing woolen jumpers and living in a thatched cottage.
The text says they only play traditionally Irish musical instruments and sports, but “no foreign games”. It also says they believe that mixing with other religions or cultures “would be a bad influence”.
In contrast, the second family says they “love change and difference”. They eat curry, pizza and Asian food and go on camping holidays in Europe. A son in the family is a volunteer with the Red Cross in Syria and the daughter studied abroad in France.

Mick regarding the price of stuff coffee etc. Yesterday I was feeling peckish so went into the deli at the garage and saw they had a "meal deal" for €6.25 chicken fillet roll or wrap, water/mineral and bag taytos. The picture showed the roll with the chicken, lettuce and tomato. So I got coleslaw, chicken, lettuce, tomato and onion. Grand job until I went to pay for it to be asked for €9.25 I explained it was meal deal and she said ‘oh it's only 1 item with the chicken (nothing on the poster nor had the girl said so when filling the wrap) it was €1 per extra item....Literally a leaf of lettuce, 2 slices of tomato and few rings of onion. I was shocked… What a rip off. Buyer beware. Regards Carmel

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary says he wants a 2-drink limit for passengers at Cork Airport, to curb in flight violence.
He says “It’s not easy for airlines to identify people who are inebriated at the gate, particularly if they are boarding with two or three others. As long as they can stand up and shuffle, they will get through. Then when the plane takes off, we see the misbehaviour,”.
“We don’t want to begrudge people having a drink. But we don’t allow people to drink-drive, yet we keep putting them up in aircraft at 33,000 feet,”
