This clip has nothing to do with video but everything to do with collaboration.

To paraphrase Leila Hormozi, "praise unsaid is the world's most wasted resource."

Whether we neglect to think of praise or we're too embarrassed to say it, we miss an opportunity to reinforce good behaviour.

Maurice from Unleash Potential hits the nail on the head in this clip.

It can't be too general. Otherwise, we won't know what we actually did that was good.

What's perverse about a lie and a compliment is that they both become more believable with specifics!

CRO experts taught me 6 things to get more sales from videos.

What's CRO, you say? Here's a baby's definition.

Make more people who see your company buy your stuff.

In March, I got ConversionWise CRO Certified.

I knew understanding CRO principles would improve the websites my videos sat on...

But they changed how I'll make videos forever.

1. Above the Fold → Check your average video view duration. If your ask is at the end and half your viewers don't make it, they’ll never take action. Get your ask in early, even through graphics.

2. Load Speeds → Fast-loading videos are crucial. High resolutions look great, but even 1 extra second of load time means viewers scroll past.

3. Design principles → Cut the clutter. Focus viewers on your message with relevant shots and custom graphics. What does the ugly painting in the background have to do with the message? Nothing. But everyone is looking at it.

4. Level of awareness → Only 3% of your market is ready to buy. On a LinkedIn video, direct them to a free resource. On a product page video, give them a reason to buy.

5. Social proof is king → Genuine testimonials are top-performing ads year after year. Use them!

6. Mobile optimisation → Create vertical videos with captions for a better mobile experience. It’s worth the extra effort.

I loved this saying when I first heard it from Maurice Whelan.

Maurice is a client who runs an executive coaching business called Unleash Potential.

Start-ups are often told to "simplify your messaging", but how do you do that step-by-step?

Here's how.

- Reduce the reading level to grade 9 or lower. Check with the Hemingway App.
- Shorten sentences.
- Use less words.
- Use plain English if possible.
- Give breathing room to important messages.
- Explain concepts people don't know with concepts they do.
- More messages = Less impact. So focus on 1-3 vital messages customers need to know to buy.

Messaging will either be the thing that restricts or grows your business.

There are 3 steps start-ups can take to improve theirs.

1. Find
- Document your messaging to pin down what you're currently using.

2. Simplify
- Check the reading level using the Hemingway app and make changes accordingly
- Shorten sentences
- Use the minimum number of words needed
- Use plain English if possible
- Give important messages breathing room
- More messages = less impact per message.

3. Make Pretty
- Explain concepts customers don't know or care about with concepts they do
- The more unexpected a message, the more memorable it will be
- The more emotional a message, the more memorable it will be
- Use the language your customer wants to hear

Create variations, test, and let customers decide what works.

My biggest mistake before launching? Not considering how to turn prospects into customers.

All this activity and engagement amounts to nothing if you don’t have a way to convert desire into sales.

Start-ups should take interested parties' names and contact details early and often.

And how you'll get them to buy? Maybe not today, but someday.

We recommend using one or more of these Capture Mechanisms.

Landing pages, where someone can use a form or checkout.

Content Call-To-Actions, where you can ask the public to click a link, subscribe or comment.

Manual/automated outreach, where you could uncover interest before asking someone to book a call.

And groups/newsletters, where you can privately ask people in mass to take action.

One per marketing channel is required.

The best companies use multiple, so they don't waste a drop of interest.

That's what you're doing when you're a start-up without a "Capture Mechanism".

A capture mechanism should "capture" the contact details of all interested parties.

It sounds basic, but many companies are not committed to doing it.

This group ranges from "ready to buy" to someone who thinks, "nice idea".

The aim is to get them into your CRM or newsletter.

You can nurture these contacts with product updates and educational content over time.

So, when you launch, you have a list to sell to, and your cash flow is positive from day 1.

Please, go-to-market with a bucket, not a sieve.

Here's an explainer video Waking Dreams Media created for Southern Scientific Services for their services to the pharmaceutical sector.

This is the first time we used a teleprompter, and recording the script went much smoother. We got the whole thing recorded in 20-30 minutes.

We also started using these chapter titles that introduce each segment of the video. They seem to maintain viewer retention more than just running through the full video without stopping.
