May you live in interesting times, so the reputed Chinese curse goes but for us, interesting times are bread and butter and democracy in action is no exception. We are delighted to be facilitating the RTÉ News and Current Affairs broadcasts of the results of the local and European Parliament elections from the RDS Simmonscourt count centre.

You may have heard the news that OT won’t be back on RTÉ in January next year.

We would like to thank all the people who have shared their journey as leaders on Operation Transformation, in doing so we know they have inspired many to take positive steps to a healthier life. As the producers we will continue to work with the friends we have made in the GAA, Sport Ireland, The School of Health & Human Performance at DCU and the local Sport Partnerships in County Councils across the country who together created a powerful movement every January and February to encourage people to improve their physical and mental health. We are already working on exciting plans that will bring us together again in 2025.

Since 2008, and for 17 seasons, we’ve worked on this show. We have made so many friends and learned so much that it is one of those life events that can only be described as formative. We’re sad that it will not be returning for an 18th season in January 2025, we truly believe that it has been a force for good and has improved the health and wellbeing of many thousands of people, our own included, and it will be missed.

To all those past leaders we’ve worked with on the show over the years, thank you, you’ve been inspirational to us and to a nation.

To the experts, our friends, Eddie, Sumi, Karl, Sophie, Aoife, Ciara, Eva, Ian, Pat, the ever wonderful Kathryn Thomas, and the late great, Gerry Ryan, thanks for the laughs, the memories, and your wisdom.

To Philip Kampff and the entire team of Vision Independent Productions over the years, this show was public service broadcasting to the core and one of the most fulfilling experiences of our professional television careers, from camera operations, sound, lighting, broadcast engineering, hot head operations, post production, and studio directing, we appreciate every opportunity that working on this programme presented to us.

To RTÉ, especially rank and file employees, keep the faith, the course is not yet run.

And now we look forward to the next great adventure. Onwards, ever onwards.

We’ve been fortunate over the years to have been involved with many programmes and projects that have either received nominations or won IFTAs. It’s always a huge endorsement of what we do and the pride we take in our work, no matter what it is.

This year we were delighted to facilitate the live recording of the IFTAs on behalf of RTÉ, ShinaWiL, and, of course, the Irish Film & Television Academy, to whom we are grateful for the trust they placed in us to deliver another great awards show.

One of the most satisfying parts of our work is simply ‘being there’.

Being there when tries are scored, being there when the pitch perfect high note is hit, being there when the last vote is counted and the declaration is made. Being there and bringing it into sitting rooms across the country and sometimes far afield across Europe and the world.

It’s a privilege we never take for granted and we are always grateful to our clients for their trust in our ability to facilitate the broadcast of these moments, many of which are historic and unrepeatable, that’s live television.

Many thanks to RTÉ News for trusting us with the live broadcast of the results programmes for the 39th and 40th referenda to the Constitution. We really appreciate it.
