SAIL AWAY
“Sail away with me,” she said
“Into the sunset sky.
Let's go whilst the harbour sleeps,
And the tide is high.
We’ll soak in the scorching clouds,
That brush the pearly gates.
And sell our souls to destiny,
That she might choose our fates.
Let's go,” she said, and took his hand,
“On a second honeymoon.
No one will even miss us
Til tomorrow afternoon.”
By then we'll be far away,
And drifting on the sea.
We'll be untangled from our worlds,
And be at last, set free.
Imagine no more nine to five,
No rushing for the train.
The only other sign of life,
Might be a big, jet plane!
We'll bathe in caribbean sun,
Drink champagne on the deck.
Eat caviar and smoke ci**rs,
Not think about the check.”
His handsome face turned to hers
And she drowned in his eyes.
Was he the husband that she knew
Now wearing a disguise?
He seemed to have more muscles now,
That bulged on his bare chest.
The husband that she knew and loved,
Was bursting in his vest.
His olive skin was glowing gold,
His breath tickled her lips.
And as he drew her in his arms,
She tingled in her hips.
His torso rippled in the light,
His hair brushed sleek and neat.
She became quite breathless,
And thought, oh what a treat!
And then just out of nowhere,
She felt a poke in her rib.
And jolted at the shock,
Of finding herself in the crib.
The revelation dawned on her,
And made her nearly weep.
When a cranky voice called out,
“Stop talking in your sleep!”
Her sailing boat drifted away,
With sunshine and champagne.
And Mr. Handsome waved goodbye,
From a jumbo, jet plane.
Ah well, she thought, it would be nice,
To have a bit of steam.
But til then, I will have
To be content to dream.
