Originally a Clubhouse for 's Buccaneers RFC . Was situated where Mary's SuperValu of Athlone now stands.

The car -park was the main pitch area at the time.

When hosting large fixtures, the Ballymahon road would nearly be impassable, because of cars on the kerbs each side from travelling supporter's.

Hasn't both establishments flourished !

The name Buccaneers derives from the original Shannon Buccaneers who were founded in the early 1930's by Athlone man Diarmuid Murtagh.

It was a buzz to welcome racing back to our home ground, Coosan Point! Round 4 of the Midlands Aquathon Series provided an evening of superb racing, camaraderie, teamwork, craic and banter and a brilliant atmosphere all around!
It was our pleasure to host the penultimate race, in the Series, and welcome 113 of our friends and fellow athletes from Lough Key Triathlon Club Lanesboro Triathlon Club Longford Triathlon Club Midland Triathlon Club Westport Triathlon Wexford Triathlon Club Castlebar Triathlon Club Tullamore Triathlonclub to the shores of . The weather was on point, the swim fresh and calm and the run a tasty little challenge as always every athlete on the course raced their hearts out with some awesome photo finishes. Huge congratulations and well done to everyone for crossing the line

Midlands Aquathon Series is back for 2023!!

The dates for the Midlands Aquathon series have been agreed between the 5 clubs in the Midlands. The series will take place every Wednesday evening between 7th of June and 5th of July, with a different Midlands club hosting each event.

Lanesboro - Wed. June 7th
Longford - Wed. June 14th
Lough Key - Wed. June 21st
Athlone - Wed. June 28th
Midlands - Wed. July 5th

There will be 2 distances to choose from; either a 250m swim and 5km run, or a 750m swim and 5km run. A relay team is also an option.

Sign up is on the evening of the event only, and your TI licence or One Day licence is required to race.
A One Day Licence can be purchased at www.triathlonireland.com up to the day of the event. Entry is only €10

Plenty of food and refreshments provided after each event.

We were delighted to be asked to help out at Athlone Boat Club 's Annual Regatta today at Coosan Point, Athlone.

The Event was electric, with crews from all over the country taking part in this fun family-friendly event.

Order of Malta was on the ground, and Athlone Sub Aqua Club in tandem with the RNLI kept an eye on the participants involved in the competition.

The stewards and all volunteers are to be highly commended, the atmosphere is amazing, and the area is spotless thanks to the Help Of Westmeath County Council who have teams on the ground for the day.

Today we took over 2 Hours of recordings and 100 plus images.

After the event has finished, we will be speaking with the organizers, and they will have full copies of today's events to publish and distribute to the clubs involved.
