When someone curses and criticizes us in the real world or the virtual world
⎯⎯⎯⎯•●◉⋯☼⋯◉●•⎯⎯⎯⎯
It could be a bit hurt,,,, heart "hot" or emotions surge,,,,, if there are people who criticize and berate us. Using unsavory words is not even appropriate to come out of the mouth of someone who claims to be a Muslim. A Muslim only says good or is silent. This can happen in the real world or the virtual world. Especially in cyberspace,,,, sometimes there are people we don't even know,,,, comment with harsh and reproachful words.
How do we behave...??? Here are some explanations of scholars regarding this matter:
1. Don't be influenced by his insults,,,, don't be ignored and stay calm...
Scholars explain that only stupid people utter harsh words. Because sometimes the harsh words are actually to cover up his stupidity and to cover up that he lost the discussion. I'm sorry,,,, stupid people are almost like crazy people,,,, so if there are crazy people or stupid people berate,,,, then you don't need to take it to heart. Do crazy people care....???
Yes, that's right,,,, "Dogs bark the caravan goes by"
Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah said,
"As for if there is someone who is stupid and a jerk, then don't be tired of it and be influenced by his insults, accusations of infidelity and misguided verdicts from him. For verily he is like the barking of a dog.”[1]
If necessary,,,, delete the comments on your social media. It's just an eyesore... moreover, we don't even know him. What's he got to do with us...???
2. No need to serve insults and debates,,,, just leave it immediately..
Harsh words and insults have shown that his intentions are not good,,,, not seeking the truth by discussing. Just looking for "problem" only. We are also commanded to stay away from and turn away from stupid people.
ALLAH TA'ALA says,
"Be forgiving and instruct people to do what is right, and turn away from those who are ignorant/stupid" (Al-A'raf: 199)
If we serve there is no profit at all that we get,,,, only hurt.
Imam Shafi'i rahimahullah said,,,,
"If you serve him,,,, then you will be difficult yourself. And if you are friends with him,,,, then he will always hurt the heart”[2]
3. It's better to be quiet and not reply to his insults...
Actually it is okay to reply in the form of "qishas" but sometimes the reply can exceed the reply. If we reply as well,,,, then what's the difference between us and him, which is both criticizing and uttering inappropriate words. He's better at this.
Imam Shafi'i rahimahullah said,,,,
"If a stupid person invites you to argue, then the best attitude is to be silent and not respond."
4. If he answers and serves then he will be happier,,,, on the contrary if we don't care about it then he will hurt himself...
Because if we respond,,,, the abuse becomes valuable and valuable. So don't respond,,,, just delete the rude comment.
Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah said,,,
"So don't make the dog worth answering. Every time he barks at you,,,, then ignore him surely you will feel happy with his barking. Rejoice in the virtues that you have in the form of knowledge, faith and guidance. And turn away from it as part of gratitude for the favors of ALLAH that ALLAH has bestowed upon you.”[3]
5. Remain calm because your rewards continue to flow to you because of the abuse.
What is more important is the affairs of the Day of Judgment. He abuses us or even spreads slander,,,, then on the Day of Resurrection he will look for us to apologize and pay with his reward. If the reward has run out,,,, then our sins are given to him.
As in the following hadith.
From Abu Hurairah RASULULLAH SHALLALLAHU 'ALAIHI WA SALLAM said,
"Do you know who the bankrupt people are...??? The companions replied,,,, 'People who are bankrupt are people who do not have dirhams or property. ' He replied,,,, 'Indeed the bankrupt among my ummah is the one who comes on the Day of Judgment with the reward of PRAYER,,,, FASTING and ZAKAT,,,, however,,,, he also comes with sin in the form of deeds reproach,,, accuse,,,, eat property,,,, spill blood and beat others. Later his goodness will be given to the wronged. If his good deeds have been given away while the vengeance for his wrongdoing has not been completed, then the wronged sins are taken and given to him. Then he was thrown into hell.”[4]
6. The audience will know who won,,,, who is calm and who is smart.
There's no need to worry about looking lost or looking like you can't fight back because a smart audience knows who really won.
Imam Shafi'i rahimahullah said,,,
"Don't you see that a lion, he is feared because he is quiet.
Whereas a dog becomes playful because he likes to bark”[5]
So hopefully useful.
