BOBST showcases to***co packaging innovation at TOPAC 2025
Surabaya, Indonesia – BOBST remains committed to driving innovation in to***co packaging, offering reliable solutions that empower converters to meet evolving market demands with confidence. At TOPAC 2025, held on 14 and 15 May in Surabaya, BOBST presented its latest advancements in die-cutting, gravure printing and web-fed converting specifically for this sector.
“TOPAC 2025 presented the perfect opportunity for BOBST to engage with the to***co industry and showcase our capabilities. With a deep understanding of specific to***co packaging requirements, BOBST continues to deliver high-impact solutions that enable converters to stay ahead of market demands, ensuring quality, security, and performance at every step,” commented Xavier MICHELET, Zone Business Director SEAP Folding Carton & Corrugated Board, Printing & Converting.
Die-cutting expertise for to***co applications
Joining industry partners, including Janoschka, Siegwerk, Koehler, Marbach, and Focke & Co, BOBST presented the NOVACUT and EXPERTCUT die-cutters which have been engineered to handle short runs with fast changeovers. These are equipped with ACCUREGISTER, derived from BOBST’s legendary POWER REGISTER technology, which ensures precise print-to-cut registration while significantly reducing setup times and production waste. The result is a more efficient and competitive die-cutting process with consistent, high quality and improved sustainability.
As brand protection becomes increasingly critical in to***co, BOBST continues to support brand owners by delivering solutions that combine high productivity with packaging differentiation. To this end, the NOVAFOIL 106 series is capable of processing holographic and security materials –helping safeguard brand integrity and combat counterfeiting.
The NOVACUT 106 ER redefines in-line blanking with a cost-effective and user-friendly approach. Designed to cut, strip, and blank in a single pass, the machine streamlines the production process, reduces manual handling, and enhances overall conversion efficiency. With its robust design and reliable performance, the die-cutter delivers an exceptional return on investment. Its ease of setup and consistent output make it an ideal solution for converters aiming to reduce costs while increasing throughput.
High-performance gravure printing
BOBST leads to***co packaging with advanced, flexible, and efficient technology tailored to industry needs. Both the VISION RS 5003 and LEMANIC gravure printing lines deliver sustainable, high-quality printing for flexible packaging across food, beverage, and non-food sectors.
In focus at the show, the LEMANIC RIVIERA ILS sets the standard in web-fed gravure printing and converting for carton board, delivering finished blanks in a single pass. Its modular design supports a variety of inline processes, serving to***co, food, beverage, and folding carton markets with high volume and precision.
Offering flexible production configurations – reel-to-reel, reel-to-converting, or hybrid – the LEMANIC RIVIERA ILS handles UV, water- and solvent-based inks, as well as offering specialty finishes like metallic and tactile effects. Automation enables fast changeovers with off-press P-cart preparation, while high speeds are maintained without compromising register accuracy. Print reliability is ensured by BOBST’s electronic line shaft and Registron® Integrated Register Control, delivering exceptional color consistency, register precision, and repeatability. Meanwhile, exclusive drying technology minimizes solvent retention for safety and compliance.
Flexibility in web-fed carton converting
For web-fed carton converting, the BOBST LEMANIC® FCC 82 HS is a flat-bed cutter-creaser designed for high precision, flexibility, and efficiency. Built on BOBST’s 70 years+ of expertise in printing and converting, this solution is ideal for folding carton applications not only in to***co, but also for liquid packaging and general cartons.
The FCC 82 HS supports an offline production model, allowing converters to separate printing and finishing into two stages – printing and rewinding first, then converting pre-printed reels later. This approach optimizes plant capacity, supporting faster turnaround and improving overall workflow.
The LEMANIC® FCC 82 HS handles the transformation of pre-printed reels into finished packaging through processes like die-cutting, creasing, embossing, sheeting, or rewinding. Designed for a wide variety of shapes and sizes, it is particularly well suited to short runs and fast changeovers, with low-cost tooling contributing to operational efficiency.
With production speeds up to 370 strokes/min (22,200 strokes/h) and a web loop system that ensures perfect tension control, the FCC 82 HS delivers consistent quality with minimal waste. Downstream control systems maintain precise material handling and accurate stripping, even at high speeds. Its ACCUCHECK system performs inline quality checks of every blank, automatically ejecting faulty boxes. Designed for flexibility and ease of use, ACCUCHECK guarantees complete quality consistency across all packaging.
For soft packs, cigarette paper, and tipping paper production, BOBST has the VISION RS 5003 and MASTER RS 6003 gravure presses, perfect for handling specialized materials such as thin films and metallized paper, essential for protecting aroma and humidity in to***co packaging.
The future of to***co packaging manufacturing
With BOBST Connect, to***co packaging production workflows become digitalized and connected, as converters can access data in real-time (or historically) from anywhere. Laying the path to the future of packaging, this provides the power to optimize production performance, improve machine handling and even increase shift output. As well as connectivity and full data access, BOBST Connect enables exceptional technical support with video assistance helping to diagnose electrical and mechanical problems, remotely and in quick time, significantly reducing any unwanted downtime.
