"Breaking Barriers: Navigating Challenges in Addiction Treatment for Lasting Discovery".
On August 25, 2024, the Unika Atma Jaya Seminar Room came alive with discussions and insights during the seminar titled "Breaking Barriers: Navigating Challenges in Addiction Treatment for Lasting Recovery." This significant event featured a distinguished lineup of experts, each bringing a wealth of knowledge to address the complexities of addiction treatment. This seminar was the product of the ITTC Indonesia collaboration.
The seminar invited Prof. Dr. Arnt Schellekens, PhD, a professor in psychiatry and addiction from the Radboudumc/Donders Centre for Neuroscience. Following this, Dr. Shelly Iskandar, Sp.AkP, Sp.KJ, MSi, PhD, from Padjadjaran University and the Indonesian ITTC, explored the application of motivational interviewing techniques in patients with substance use disorders (SUD) who also faced comorbid conditions. This seminar also invited Dr. dr. Kristiana Siste, Sp.KJ, Subsp.Ad(K), head of psychiatric department in the University of Indonesia, who provided an in-depth look at gambling disorders.
Throughout the day, the seminar held numerous interactive sessions, including roleplays and discussions, which facilitated a dynamic learning environment. Attendees not only gained insights into advanced treatment methodologies but also explored various screening tools useful for psychiatrists in assessing and managing addiction disorders.
The event was joined by 50 psychiatrists and addiction specialists from various universities, serving as a rich discusssion for professional development and networking.
