Trivent Publishing belongs to Trivent Conferences, an international company with headquarters in Budapest (Hungary) and with over 25 years of experience in the field of academic event management. SJT Trivent opened in Budapest in 1993 with the main purpose of organizing academic conferences for universities. In the years 2000, the company worked for the European Commission, while today Trivent is

the head of an event organizing consortium for the Union for the Mediterranean. Throughout its existence, Trivent Conferences worked with some of the largest academic publishing houses in the world and thus learned the skills and methods employed by professional academic publishing. This materialized into Trivent Publishing in 2015, but we only came into full working schedule a few years later, around the year 2017, thus making us a very young publishing house. Trivent Publishing serves the academic community by publishing peer-reviewed volumes dedicated to academic research. Our main focus (and passion) is publishing books in the general field of history and the specific field of Medieval Studies through our Trivent Medieval imprint. Trivent Medieval is a growing imprint, currently holding 10 book series on varied subjects ranging from art history to equine history. Our two other imprints, Trivent Violence & Conflict and Trivent Ethics in Science & Technology, publish books dedicated to studies on the philosophy of conflict and criminology (including our Philosophical Journal of Conflict and Violence), as well as bioethics and applied philosophy.

📢 We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of MEDIEVALISM IN RUSSIAN AND UKRANIAN POLITICAL DISCOURSES, edited by Anastasija Ropa.

Since the dissolution of the USSR, medieval history has been a powerful tool in Eastern European political narratives. Figures like Prince Vladimir/Volodymyr the Great and Ilya of Murom have been contested symbols, claimed by both Russia and Ukraine. ⚔️🏰 The ongoing conflict has only intensified the use—and misuse—of medieval history in public discourse, education, and propaganda.

This multidisciplinary volume brings together international scholars to explore how medievalism appears in statues, fiction, cartoons, tourism, and popular history, revealing its role as both a political weapon and a cultural foundation.

📅 Available in print April 2025! Stay tuned!

🐎 We are happy to announce the upcoming release of THE HORSE IN HISTORY: A FESTSCHRIFT IN HONOUR OF JOHN CLARK, edited by Anastasija Ropa and Emma Herbert-Davies.

John Clark’s pioneering research has shaped the field of medieval equestrian history, inspiring generations of scholars. His influential work, "The Medieval Horse and its Equipment" (1995), laid the foundation for much of the academic exploration that followed. This volume brings together international researchers to honor his legacy, offering new perspectives on the role of horses in history, culture, and society.

Spanning from Roman Britain to the Elizabethan court, this book explores equestrian equipment, horse training, folklore, and the symbolic role of horses in literature. It provides fresh insights into archaeological finds, equestrian practices, and the cultural significance of horses across time.

📅 The Horse in History will be available in print starting April 2025.

🐎📖 Hot off the press! We are thrilled to announce the publication of THE WARHORSE IN ENGLAND. 1272-1327 by Emma Louise Herbert-Davies!

This fresh book discusses the fascinating history of medieval England's most iconic animal—the warhorse. Symbolic of chivalry, power, and knightly valor, the warhorse played a crucial role in shaping the social, political, and military landscape of its time.

Dr. Herbert-Davies' new monograph sheds light on the vital role of warhorses during the reigns of Edward I and Edward II, a period of almost constant warfare and the peak of cavalry's importance in English military strategy. Through extensive primary sources (including army inventories, royal stable records, and medieval veterinary texts), this work examines the practical realities of breeding, training, and caring for warhorses, as well as the enormous resources required to sustain them.

It is a must-read for anyone interested in medieval history, military studies, or animal studies!

📣 LATEST IN OUR TRIVENT TRANSHUMANISM IMPRINT!

🌟 Artificial Morality: An Exploration of Moral Machines, by Andrei Nutas (December 2024)

This book is an exploration of the ethical and philosophical challenges in developing artificial intelligence systems capable of moral reasoning and behaviour. Bridging centuries of philosophical debate with analyses of large language models, this book examines how shifting conceptions of human identity and the evolution of technology shape our understanding of morality. It critiques anthropocentric views of ethical agency while proposing innovative frameworks for aligning AI with diverse human values. Through a deep dive into the technical architectures of current AI systems, discussions on machine consciousness, and the risks posed by autonomous systems, Andrei Nutas charts a path for embedding principles like fairness, privacy, and accountability into future intelligent machines. This study concludes by advocating for the nurturing of machine wisdom, guided by universal principles that transcend rigid exceptionalism, ultimately aiming to foster a more compassionate and equitable future for all sentient beings.

- TRANSHUMANISM AND JUSTICE, ed. Dominic Garcia, PhD

We invite contributions to an upcoming edited volume that explores the complex intersections of transhumanism/posthumanism and the philosophy of justice and punishment. As humanity transitions towards new understandings of the human condition, this book aims to critically examine whether a retributive justice system aligns with evolving mentalities or remains an outdated paradigm rooted in vengeance and spectacle.

📚 We seek chapters that challenge the traditional notions of punishment and explore new frameworks of justice within a rapidly transforming society, advocating for alternative approaches that reconcile technological and philosophical advancements with justice.
