In 2006, I visited the Ozora Festival for the first time and heard that brilliant Son Kite set. That experience sparked a deep desire in me to learn music more seriously.
It was unbelievable to me that, while being completely sober, their professional knowledge and musical spirit took me to a paradise I could barely return from. They lifted me with immense energy and filled every corner of my soul with harmony.
Marcus and Sebastian set the bar so high in my eyes — something I had never experienced before...
I was going through my first painful breakup at the time, and I realized this was the best therapy I could have had. It has shaped my musical ars poetica ever since!
I truly prefer music that speaks to the soul...
…And I think you can sense that.
So music became a healing sanctuary for me, a place where I can recharge.
Since 2002, I’d been going to teen discos (I was born in ‘87), and soon after, I started visiting Hungary’s biggest clubs. In 2003, I was already dancing at Hyperspace in Complex. I went to Pacha, Coronita, Flört, Palace, Korona, Kashmir, and Supersonic. To the legendary Kultiplex. To Shockwave events — whether in amusement parks or airports… Psystem Error or Experience parties. Bónusz or Mayday.
But perhaps the most outstanding for me — the true mecca of the underground — were the real illegal gatherings at 361!
That’s probably where I truly understood what the underground is really about. It’s not the genres that define the subculture, but the spirit and the sense of unity.
That’s what makes it special!
During that time, I also went to Goa parties in places like Szigetújfalu, Halásztelek, Alsónémedi, Dunavarsány, etc. We often went there after the clubs, as we really preferred daytime, melodic music. Back then, morning/daytime Israeli full-on was huge. In the afternoons, it was various forms of progressive psytrance.
As time passed, I gradually faded from the club scene — I spent so much time in nature that I found it more fulfilling to bathe in sound under the stars. Lying on a blanket, feeling the bass vibrate through the grass. Throwing a frisbee… and marveling at the acoustic phenomena bouncing off birch trees, oaks, and pines…
In a previous post, I gave thanks to my friends who helped me grow.
So now, back to my first Ozora. When Marcus and the guys ended their Minilogue set, the festival came to a close. They left behind a huge void — and joy-filled tears — as if they had blessed us with wings.
I couldn’t believe that this connection between music and nature could bring me such harmony and joy.
I prayed to the higher power: Please let me play music at Ozora.
And it happened!!!
Okay, I didn’t get a chance to play on the Main Stage, but I did perform at the festival seven times, and each time I was able to be fully myself.
I’m thankful to Kata, Henzi, and Ati Nikleczy for this.
For Botond and me, it was a huge gift from life — he always saw the audience with his heart. When we were invited, it was clear we would play together and serve the crowd some Scandinavian and/or North-German progressive!
And we did — for 5-6 hours straight! 🙂 🤙
This picture was taken around the middle of our set, at a moment when I was more nervous than ever before…
Okay, that’s a lie — I still get just as nervous every time I perform at this special place!
Now you understand why I drink so much pálinka too! 😀 🙂
