“When Kṛṣṇa, His pure devotee, or His holy names are satisfied with a sādhaka’s purity, humility, and eagerness for love—his āsakti—then they bless him with their mercy. That means that love from their hearts touches the heart of the sādhaka and empowers his own bhāva to burst forth and take full dominion over his mind and senses, elevating him to the stage of ecstatic devotion.”

Marathon meditation - December 8, 2007

Late in 1989, while visiting Hungary and preparing devotees for their first Christmas marathon, I had a very vivid dream, one I have mentioned earlier to some. In the dream, I was with Lord Balarāma, who said to me, “Let us go see what Kṛṣṇa is doing.” We entered a very ornate room where Kṛṣṇa was resting upon a beautiful bed. Balarāma sat beside Kṛṣṇa and woke Him up, and then Kṛṣṇa sat up and sat on the side of the bed, His lotus feet on the ground. He was dressed just like a cowherd boy. In my dream, I offered daṇḍavats while saying prayers and then I knelt, looking up at Kṛṣṇa, who looked just like our Śyāma does.

Kṛṣṇa pointed at me with His forefinger. He was smiling but was also a little stern to impress upon me the importance of His words. He said, “Just translate and distribute books about Me, and that will be better worship of Me than any prayers. By that one activity, other projects in Hungary will develop and be maintained.” It was a very clear message, one that is etched in my heart along with many such instructions from Śrīla Prabhupāda.

I believe the instruction is for all leaders and all devotees of this yātrā. If your lives rotate around this principle, everything will “develop and be maintained.” I am eternally obliged to the devotees who have helped realize this instruction of Śyāma thus far, and today I request you all to make this instruction your own and live by it in this life. All your efforts will be successful. That is our practical experience here in Hungary.

Please continue to help me to realize the dream of Vaiṣṇavas, that in every house of Hungary there is a full set of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s books, that people worship Gaura-Nitāi, and that they chant Hare Kṛṣṇa—the dream of turning this country into Vaikuṇṭha.

"I am sitting underneath small trees and just seeing green, with this meadow stretching out before me. The colour green is said to be soothing to the eyes; it is known to be the best colour for the eyes.
But why is that so?
Because there is the golden complexion of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, and the bluish complexion of Lord Kṛṣṇa. And what happens when blue and yellow meet? They become green. So the meet- ing of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa is symbolised by this colour green, and devotees take the greatest happiness when they know that the Divine Couple are enjoying Their pastimes together. There- fore green always gives devotees that remembrance: “Oh, now Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī and Kṛṣṇa are meeting, and that meeting has turned the entire world green.”

Śivarāma Swami has just completed a series of Dāmodarāṣṭaka explanations, offering a beautiful verse-by-verse meditation for Kārttika.

"Everything he says and does is ānanda—it gives bliss, which means bliss is the reciprocation of love. When there is love, there must be a lover and a beloved. When the lover is able to exchange with the beloved, the result becomes ānanda. So ānanda-kuṇḍe is like a deep pool, like Kusuma-sarovara, which is said to be as deep as nine celestial elephants."

“The overarching reason for Kṛṣṇa playing hard to get is that He wants to see how much His devotee values Him. After all, loving devotion will purchase Him, who is the personification of all that exists. Kṛṣṇa is not a dollar-store trinket. And when He gives Himself, He does so unconditionally and totally. A practitioner should be willing to respond in kind: he should be willing to pay the price of such attainment, whatever the cost. And to see that he does, the following are some of the points on which Kṛṣṇa assesses His devotee:

- Steadiness in service even without the reward of advancement
- Does the devotee opt for liberation as an alternative to hard-to-attain bhāva?
- Does he actually feel separation, or at least try to feel it?
- Is the devotee content to remain instead in goodness as a pious brāhmaṇa?
- Is the devotee distracted by material allurements like wealth or sense gratification, which are the by-products of bhakti?”

Śrīla Prabhupāda explains that the “moonlike rays” of love from the hearts of advanced devotees sometimes reflect on the hearts of those in their association, and cause in those fortunate souls an upsurge in attachment to Kṛṣṇa, called “parā attachment.” Indeed such superior shadow ecstasy may sometimes be awakened by the grace of the holy dhāma as well. Nothing is impossible to achieve by the association of Vaiṣṇavas and the mercy of holy places. Therefore devotees always pray for that mercy, knowing that without it their aspirations for perfection will be fruitless

Śivarāma Swami has spent the last few days on parikramā in Ayodhyā!

Mahārāja was deeply impressed by the efforts to restore and preserve this holy dhām. During the trip, he visited several sacred pilgrimage sites, including the new Rāma Mandir, where the group received a royal welcome and police es**rt for an extended darśan. (Unfortunately, photography is not permitted, so we were unable to capture those special moments.)

UPDATE: Bomb Threat at Ayodhya Airport

There was a bomb scare on the Air India flight carrying Śivarāma Swami and a group of devotees. Upon landing, passengers had to endure hours of questioning and searching in the blazing heat on the tarmac.

While many passengers grew frustrated, and some even began rioting due to the stressful situation, Śivarāma Swami remained calm and joyful, seeing it as Kṛṣṇa’s plan unfolding. His peaceful demeanor was an inspiring example amidst the chaos.

Fortunately, the threat turned out to be a false alarm, and Maharaja, along with all the devotees, arrived safely in Ayodhya—albeit later than expected.

In his recent podcast, Maharaja reflected on the incident:

"You cannot buy a ticket to a holy place; you have to develop your adhikāra. It seems Lord Rāmacandra wants us to develop our adhikāra."

Śivarāma Swami has just spent a blissful few days in Jaipur. Mainly he was meeting devotees there but he also gave class at the ISKCON temple, and one cannot go to Jaipur without darśana of GovindaJī!

Here is a little excerpt from Mahārāja's latest podcast:
"This extraordinary love and attention that the residents of Jaipur
show for GovindaJī... It's such a wondertul atmosphere, and this
goes from morning to evening. I'm sure many of the listeners
have been there and they know what I'm talking about. It's a
spontaneous attachment to the Lord, GovindaJī."
