Known for their expertise in creating urban finishes that are beautifully considered, paired with textured fabrics and elegant lighting, FARE INC. has brought their experience to life in Akub. Every detail, from the custom verdigris light fixtures to the tapestry-adorned bespoke seating, has been carefully curated to enhance the dining experience of each guest.

Wyndham Social is located in the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, surrounded by traditional low-rise tong laus and towering skyscrapers. What was once a quiet street with antique shops and carpet sellers has now become the lively center of Central, bustling with restaurants and bars. Designed by Soil Studios, Wyndham Social occupies the ground floor lobby of an office tower, seamlessly connecting Wyndham Street with the vibrant Lan Kwai Fong area. Serving as a platform to showcase emerging Hong Kong artists, it also functions as a stylish lounge for social gatherings and events.

This endeavor by maximale blends the cherished heritage with the contemporary needs of its transient inhabitants, who seek solace in modest yet refined dwellings. Comprising a cluster of seven meticulously crafted apartments, CS13 not only reclaims the essence of this architectural gem but also fosters an environment of communal living.

Each abode boasts a harmonious fusion of two bedrooms, an airy living space that seamlessly transitions into a dining area, and a kitchen that beckons culinary explorations. The apartments reflect on current functionality and the absence of ornamentation while engaging in a dialogue with the vibrant details of this unique building.

Pang Mei Noodle Bar by Office AIO

From bowls of noodles to grab-and-go desserts, Pang Mei Noodle Bar (“Pang Mei” translates to “chubby girl”) has mastered serving distinctive Sichuan dishes in Beijing. As an innovator in the restaurant business, the brand commissioned Office AIO again to design a novel experience for its latest venture.

Office AIO pulls off a play of material throughout the interior inspired by the improvisation spirit of hutong furniture. Crafted with rubber bands, cork and aluminium, the bespoke sling chairs and puck pendant lights complement the rooms of flexibility, minimalism and warmth. Noodle-like and chubby, padded cylinders in soft n**e colour wiggle along the walls and form a backdrop that hints on Pang Mei's famous noodles. The padded wall, as well as the gradient fog mirrors, continue as the signature seen across Pang Mei’s many restaurants.

Atelier Cph, a Copenhagen-based design studio, has unveiled its latest art print collection, inspired by the concept of balance. The studio, founded in 2012 by art director Mandy Rep and trend forecaster Sara Ingemann, is a creative hub for artistic expression and development.
The new collection is a blend of the old and the new, combining sun-bleached paper and old notebooks found in the founders' attics with modern design principles. The love of experimenting with different paper types and techniques is evident in this collection, featuring expressive graphic collages.

Spread across a sprawling 2400 sq. ft apartment, every inch of this space has been thoughtfully designed to create an open, inviting, and visually stunning atmosphere. The project’s development was rooted in a design philosophy that emphasizes conceptual depth, expressive elements, and the removal of superfluous elements. This approach shines through in the use of abstract forms, spatial richness, material contrast, and meticulous attention to detail, all of which contribute to the artistic essence of FLAT MUSE.

Maida Vale Pied-à-Terre by Atelier Ochre and Maison August

Nestled on the top floor of a Victorian mansion building in the heart of Maida Vale, London, up-and-coming London-based French designers Églantine Sicat and Pauline Dellemotte have reimagined a two-bedroom home for an international collector of African art.

Through their respective design studios, Maison August and Atelier Ochre, Sicat and Dellemotte have been transformed the 98m2 apartment into a serene sanctuary that effortlessly combines personal treasures collected on the owner’s far-flung travels, with contemporary touches and sensitively restored period features.

In a display of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, Time & Style released the Drop Paper Lamp which Claesson Koivisto Rune has designed exclusively for the K5 Tokyo Hotel. ( .jp .milan )

On display in the Milan Showroom, is the Drop Paper Lamp. Located in the Brera district of Milan, the flagship Time & Style showroom is approximately 500 square meters and features a fusion of Western and Eastern cultures. The historic arches that stretch across the building add to its charm, offering a showcase for original Time & Style products and select items such as Japanese household utensils, sculptures, and ceramics by Japanese artists.

Aethos Ericeira Hotel ( ) by Pedra Silva Arquitectos ( )

Perched on the cliffs of Ericeira, Portugal, lies Aethos Ericeira Hotel, a boutique hotel that boasts stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Once a humble building lost amidst a mix of traditional and modern elements, the hotel now stands as the result of a refurbishment project led by Pedra Silva Arquitectos. Despite the numerous constraints and protected site, the architects aimed to respect the building's history and preserve the existing site. Witnessing the location's potential from their first site visit, the architects stripped down the buildings to their essence, separating the elements to keep from the ones to let go. The result is a masterpiece of architectural design that fuses history and modernity, inviting guests to experience the beauty of Ericeira.

Lonely's first international flagship store in Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, was transformed into a contemporary and inviting showroom through a collaboration between Knight Associates and Lara Hoad Architecture & Design. The former gallery was modernised to create a space that showcases the New Zealand-based lingerie brand's products.

With two existing retail touchpoints in Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand, Lonely boutiques are designed as calm sanctuary-like spaces, where customers can relax and experience a zone of self-love and honor, intimately experiencing collections with guidance from brand hosts.

The Atlant Project by Karolina Rochman Design ( )is a symphony of old and new, a renovation of an old tenement house that retains its vintage charm while modernising it for the family.

The Łódź tenement house, built in 1938, welcomed the new residents with its beautifully preserved entrance gate and unique atmosphere. The apartment, with its original layout, comprises a living room, a study, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two corridors that overlook the inner courtyard and the street.

Swedish designer Kajsa Willner ( ) has collaborated with furniture retailer Olsson&Gerthel (.se ) and Swedish furniture producer Fogia ( ) to create an exhibition that showcases the beauty and potential in waste.

Willner’s designs are the result of a deep exploration into the potential of waste materials. Through material development, upcycling, craft techniques, collaboration, and implementation, she has found ways to reintroduce residual materials into the manufacturing process of furniture design. Her designs are a testament to how waste can be refined and transformed into something functional, tactile, and aesthetically pleasing.

NEON Hair Salon by Atsushi Tasaki Architecture and Design is a salon of innovation and unconventionality, nestled near Kugenuma Kaigan Station in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The salon’s design shatters the mold, utilising off-the-shelf parts and materials in creative ways that transport a diverse range of customers - commuters, school goers, surfers, and skaters - to an ethereal realm. The use of polycarbonate creates a nuanced sense of contrast, while successive linear light fixtures guide the onlooker’s gaze from the street, arousing a sense of wonder and evoking a slight sense of the surreal.

The exterior of the building exudes rustic charm, with a façade of siding and aluminum sash that captures the essence of Japan’s suburbs. Though the designer initially harboured reservations about the industrialised scenery, it soon became a nostalgic scene, evocative of our shared history. The challenge was to bring this intriguing contradiction to life while creating a functional space with ample seating and a distinctive design.

The designers have crafted a space that defies conventions of use and scale, with LGS-covered walls, movable tables boasting electrical outlets, and stools fashioned from tiles that protrude from the floor, matching the tile joints. The lighting fixtures are not just sources of illumination but double as hanger racks, a whimsical and practical touch. The space is an ode to creativity and innovation, a testament to the design team’s ingenuity and vision.

New Norm Magazine

The New Norm Magazine is a biannual, travel and lifestyle magazine based in Hong Kong. Each issue focuses on carefully selected travel, culture and lifestyle features, presented through a combination of articles, interviews, and visual narratives. The New Norm Magazine is dedicated to inspiring individuals to explore and experience new cultures and traditions and to divert from the typical tourist routes.

We used four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter to create four different series covering themes of art, culture, design and travel. We also visit different places according to the four seasons to experience local cultures and to share them within the magazine.

Issue 01 features a visit to Budapest to explore and discover unique and hidden places, an architecture tour of Malta, a country so rich in history that it was still so visible today, a trip to Iceland, and ventures into the old town of Cyprus, connecting with the locals where we get a perspective of how unresolved conflict has changed the city.

Issue 02. We interview Mark Anthony Fox, Page Hotels, Noah & Grey, Building Narrative, and Laurie Poast Atelier to learn about the creative process behind the development of their brand. We explore the city of Tokyo and Kyoto, Faroe Islands, in Iran, Sankt Peter Ording, Seattle, and Hong Kong.
